I got proofed at Applebees with 5 kids

for my sons 7th bday he wanted to go to Applebees so we I made reservations. They screwed that up big time. So I refused to talk anymore afraid to say the wrong thing and have them spit in my food. Well, let me put it this way the way we sat at the table. was my father, nephew, me, neice, son, husband, son, MIl, SiL, mom, brother. around the table. I ordered a drink cause I needed it BAD. And I got proofed. I thought the waitress was kidding but I said heres my proof pointing to the kids. She said okay, but next time bring your id. I looked at her and she was serious. After she said that I wipped my id out of my bag and was ready to scream even louder. I thanked her after I calmed down. She coould have been my daughter this waitress.

We ended up eating and they screwed up the food as well I just hope she didnt spit in my food. By the way when is the assistant general manager now a manager? Is there something out there that I do not know of? I ask for the manager and I get an assistant general manager. whats up with that?

We went to TGIF's in Smithaven Monday night and they said to me they were out of coke, root beer, orange soda, and sprite. RIIIGHHHHTTTT....So I get club soda, and then a different waiter brings a coke to the table next to ours!

sheesh! I would of been like excuse me i thought you said you were out of soda's. how come the table over there got a soda, can I please have a coke. I had a problem with applebee's by exit64 near kennedy 83 when it firat opened up, they did the same thing to me
they messed up the food the service was awful. they gave me a card that said two free dinners because of there stupidity.

I sent you an FM. I work for Applebees and it is company policy to Id anyone who looks 30 or younger, but we encourage the servers to ID everyone for alcohol. We have a Red and Green Card program it is called. What that means is that Secret Shoppers are sent into the stores to order alcohol if you are under 30 and they do not ask for ID you are fired on the spot with a Red Card if you ID the person when they leave they will leave you a green card on the table. It is a way for the store to make sure the servers are not serving minors. Also it is going to be passed by law that anyone under 30 needs to be proofed for alcohol. It is part of the we card program.

As longas I get my booze, I'm good.

As for the management thing, the general manager can't be there all the time, so I guess thye give you the highest ranking avaialble manager.
that's how it was when I worked in retail. We had a store manager & about 4-5 asssitant managers, and 1-2 managers were on duty at a time, so sometimes it could just be assistant managers.

I sent you another FM, I understand what you are saying, but inessence the girl was just looking out for herself. We have to fire at least two people for the Card program and let me tell you one of them we fought tooth and nail to keep because the guy was 29 who came in and looked like he was 40 he was bald and had gray hair. I could not believe it when he showed me his ID, after he red carded the bartender. I have to say I do not agree with all the rules that applebees has set, but just like anyone else you do what you have to do, to do your job right.

Your right every store has one GM and about 3-5 assitant General Managers. The GM usually works during the day and one or two night shifts. But GM more runs the whole operation while the Assitant GM deal with the day to day things.

I don't mind it's actually flattering, this happens to me at TGIF and applebees.
I have a question though, how come they don't ask my husband for id, he is 30 but definitely looks younger. Ha, do I hear double standard.

She wasn't giving you a hard time. They have to proof anyone that looks under 40. Its the law. It doesn't matter if you have kids... considering you can have kids nowadays at 13.

I am 30 and I get proofed EVERY time at one of these places.
