I guess its my turn for BM drama. Advice anyone? (long)

I went to get BM dresses this weekend. This is who was there:

my blood sister (will be referred to as S) MOH
my step-sister (will be referred to as P) MOH
my 2 friends from OOT (I did not tell them they had to come, they wanted to visit me and happened to pick this date. There is another one from OOT and she already ordered hers elsewhere)
my FSIL (with my future niece who is a BM)
my mom

Now heres the issue. My other step sister was supposed to come too. (she will be referred to as M) We told her of this date 6 weeks ago and she took off from work, told me she had the $, etc. S, P, and I have been trying to call her for the last week and she ignored all of our calls.

She calls me right before we are about to leave Sat morning and says she doesnt think she will be able to make it, she just woke up, can she meet us there after she gets ready? I said fine. Call P's cell phone for directions.

She is closest and feels most comfortable talking with P rather than me even though I am the bride.

We are in the salon for 2 hours and no call. As we are about to leave, she calls. Tells P she was sick this week, or whatever, makes some excuses. P and I dont understand what that has to do with the BM dresses but tells her we will call her later.

The rest of us go out to lunch, bond, and have a wonderful time.

P speaks to M that night and P asks her what was the real reason she didnt show up? M admits that its because of her haircut, she didnt want everyone staring at her.

BACKGROUND: M is gay. She has a very short haircut, and the back of her head is shaved.

So P says, dont you think everyone is going to be staring at you at the WEDDING, what is the difference of now ???

P tells her now is your last chance....tell me right now if you dont want to be in the wedding or not. Nows your chance! M claims she does want to do it.

So P is going to call M tonight and set up an evening this weekend to get the dress for her. Thats provided she answers her phone. Shes flaky like that.

My entire family is screaming at me, including FH that they dont want her in the wedding. They dont want me to have to deal with this.

Theres a lot of background drama with her.....its too much to get into but she basically has a history of messing things up for people, making them miserable, etc. As you can see I only chose her as a BM out of obligation.

I know its my wedding and blah blah blah it would be easier if she werent in it at all but its easier said than done to kick someone out of the BP. Talking with M is like walking on egg shells.

I called the salon and put a hold on all the other orders until Friday. So my question is, should I continue to be pulled in different directions by her if she doesnt get with me this week to get the dresses? She was going but flaked out at the last minute with a lame excuse.

Sorry sweetie

I think out of fairness and ease on you, give her one last chance. If she flakes out 1 more time then you can say to yourself that you gave her a chance. After that you might really want to kick her out of the BP. Make her understand that you want her to be there as a part of the BP but you dont want to take any more chances that she wont feel like doing necessary things.

Maybe have P tell her that you are planning to give her one last chance to be a good BM.

Thanks girl - thats what I am doing. Giving her one more chance although people are telling me I am too nice....but eveyone deserves a second chance. But not a third!

I think considering the circumstances, you should call her and ask her if she is still interested in being in the bridal party or not. Explain to her nicely that the order for the dresses has been put on hold because of her but that it will be placed this saturday with or without her. Put the ball in her court and let her make the decision. Im sorry your going through this hon!

in my opinion i feel as though M can talk to P doesn't really matter. you're the bride, and it's your wedding. you should really make an effort to call her and see what's going on, because it's pretty easy to p*ssyfoot around when she's talking to P and not to you.

you really should give her a chance cause it seems as though you want her in the BP because if she wasn't it wouldn't be 'right'

if she doesn't get her act together after this week, i would have a talk with her and tell her that you're stressed out as it is and that you only want people to be in the BP that want to be there and that she can maybe do something else to be involved like do a reading or hand out the stuff being thrown or whatever.

good luck with her...stay strong girl

Give her until the end of the week to go get fitted and pay for the dress. If she doesn't do so by Friday, tell the salon to place to order without her and let her know her window of opportunity has passed. I would however be fair and tell her that today. Let her know the dresses NEED to be ordered Friday and she has only until then to take care of it.

I agree about giving her until the end of the week. I am sorry you have to deal with this added annoyance!
