I guess speaking of nerds, is anyone a member of Mensa?

My Daddy is and so is my sister. They keep telling me to take the test and I'm like 'Uhh, I don't want them to laugh themselves to death doing the scoring'.

Really? Do they use the membership a lot, like do they go to the functions, etc?

My dad is a member, but he doesn't participate in it.

My godmother (RIP) was a member. I think she received newsletters and went to a few functions.

She was awesome.

My Dad doesn't attend any functions, but he proudly wears his Mensa T-shirt and has the Mensa sticker on his car. He's so cute - when he sees something Mensa he gets all excited, like it's a connection to him or something. My sister went one year and she said it was a bunch of snobby super-brains talking about how important and smart they were. One pocket protector wearing nerd actually asked her back to his room!

Sadly, yes, as is my mom, my brother, and my uncle! I don't sport the t shirt or the pocket protector but I do get the newsletter which has some crosswords that are harder than the NY Times!

Well, I can't say I do much to be involved in it, and I don't tell maybe people about it or it would scare them off (I am pretty normal, or at least I like to think so!). But it is just a fun thing...The newsletters are interesting--many of the members don't work in fields you would imagine--there are tons of bartenders, plumbers, etc. (not knocking any of these professions, I am just saying they aren't all rocket scientists). I would never write it on a resume (the last search we did for a job here someone listed it right under education--I threw that one away!), but it is kind of cool to know...
