This is just MY opinion but I think it has to be an evening wedding to be black tie. People who have afternoon weddings should also have the option to have a black tie affair if they want one. But I just think its better in the evening.

Ball Gowns and Tuxes. My FSIL and FBIL had a black tie wedding but I didn't know it was black tie - FH wasn't so good with the details of their wedding. I had one a green satin cocktail dress and everyone else was in ballgowns - not cool -

I know that guest dress to impress, but can the host call it a black tie how do you justify it being a black tie? As long as it's at night?

Haha I asked fhs sil because she put black tie only and she said 'You put that when your paying over 150 for each guest and your coctail hour has a carving station'..

I smiled and walked away confused haha

Huh?

I don't think it should be about how much you spend per person......but it may depend on your reception hall location, time of day, and if the bride and groom want it.

I do no think price or time of Year should matter though.

My friend put black tie on her invites because her DH's family had a wedding a few months before hers and the OOT were wearing casual dresses with zip up hoodies!!
