My sister is 3 years younger than me but she's been with her BF for almost 4 years (FH and I have been together for 2) they've talked about getting engaged and since I've been going through all my wedding planning and such she's been seeing things that she's liked along the way including the e-ring that she wants. So Sunday night we were all sitting around the table and she mentioned that she gave her BF the picture of the ring so I turned around and said 'You can NOT get engaged until after September of next year' and my mom said 'well if it's next year and you're passed the newly engaged stage, what does it matter at that point?' and I got so angry and I was like 'Absolutely not! This is my time! from now until next September it's all about me. You can't be worrying about her e-party or anything like that. We're planning my wedding'
I couldn't even believe those words came out of my mouth lol My sister wasn't mad or anything but I just couldn't believe that actually happened. I always swore I wouldn't get like that but it just happened.

Awww... that's a tough situation because it's your sister and your days and planning would definitely clash with one another's. I would have done the same thing, honestly. You would never be able to talk or discuss your wedding without having to share the spotlight, which isn't fun in my book lol. Although I kind of feel for your sister as well, because you're not getting married for 1.5 years and that's a long time for her to wait to start planning her life.
Sorry Thankfully my sister is an old married lady already

i think you had a natural reaction. Getting engaged & planning a wedding is one of the most important things in a womans life-you don't want anyone 'stealing your thunder', so to speak...She'e your sister, so I'm sure she understands...

i dont think you can expect ppl to wait over a year to get engaged....i understand you dont want her to steal your thunder but at the same time ppl's lives don't revolve around your wedding so if they want to get engaged they should be able to. I would be pissed though if she tried to plan the wedding date for before yours or something.

Re: I had a bridezilla moment on Sunday
I know what you are going through .... My FH's brother got engaged RIGHT after us and insisted on having his wedding a few weeks after ours ....
This has caused ALOT of tension and issues! the whole thing blew over and now has started being an issue again .... they were supposed to be in eachothers wedding party ... now they may not even goto eachothers weddings ...
its sad actually .... but what can you do

Re: I had a bridezilla moment on Sunday
They're not going to get engaged any time soon anyway, she's in grad school working part time and he is 2 years out of college with no money saved, but it was just the thought. I talked to my sister that night and she was like 'You know we're not getting engaged any time soon but if we were I wouldn't want to plan my life around yours' so I apologized and it was all good.
And if they did get engaged and she rushed to have the date before mine, all hell would break loose! LOL

yeaah.. maybe not the best way to react.
What's important thought is that u realized that it wasn't the best. It's not like ur still saying, 'yeah i'm right.. so what'

Re: I had a bridezilla moment on Sunday
Oh my!
I might make a little apology on that one... but I'm sure they understand though.
I can't say I would mind that much if my sis got engaged before I got married... I would be pretty excited especially since I will probably end up planning her entire wedding too!!!
