We tried baked clams, stuffed mushrooms, penne alla vodka, stir fry beef teryaki, sausage and peppers, mussels, tortilinni alfredo and shrimp. Since i dont eat seafodd that was my fiance part he liked it except for the baked clams but, in the defense of the Riviera he doesnt like baked clams made that way to begin with so it really isnt fair to say anything. The other thing we both didnt like was the beef teryaki and he didnt like the tortellini said it was to salty but i thought it was fine. Everyting else was good. Not terrific but i never think weddding food is fabulous. We have a hold on a friday for July 2004. We have a few days to decide, no money down yet but so many days have filled up just over the last two weeks we figured we should do somethiong. It was ok for wedding food I have had a little better at some places but overall it was average. My suggestion stay away from teh clams and the beef.

Re: I had my food tasting at Riviera and..
We havent had food tastings anywhere else but we looked at, Millridge, GWManor, Fox Hollow, Noth Ritz, sans Souci and Stewart manor. We did the food tasting at Riviera b/c is our first choice. Yes there are water views, it is right on the water it very pretty. Anyone else have anymore suggestions on places for one or two weddings at a time, can gaurentee only 120-130 and is in nassau or western suffolk?

All those places have gotten rave reviews. Go to tastings there and then make your final decision. With my place I felt it was like my dress, I just knew! You willl find a place! Good Luck

Have you checked out Captain Bill's in Bay Shore- don't let the name fool you, awesome food, and beautiful room, separate catering hall, called the Bayview House- right on the Marina.

JMHO - but i don't think you should settle on the food b/c 'wedding food isn't usually good'....i've been to many weddings where the food was excellent....if you're not 100% happy with what you tasted, then i agree with everyone else - take a look at some other places and have tastings there too before you decide! good luck

Noel, I have to agree .... It's important for you to be happy all around! And what happened to your Saturday night? Everyone remembers if the food wasn't good and that's usually the first thing they compliment too! Food is soooo important, especially with Italian families!!!!!!
John Anthony's is fabulous and the food there is suppose to be terrific. I agree to check them out too!
FM me ... we'll talk!!!!

Re: I had my food tasting at Riviera and..
No dont get me wrong its wasnt bad where like I am settling or anyting its just that i didnt leave there going WOW that was great but i have never said that leaving a wedding that's my opinion anyway. We dont want to go any farther east than Massapequa or else i would look at john anthonys and captain bills. But really i didnt love any of the other halls as much as this one i love the outside and how the cocktail hour would be inside and out if it didnt rain ofcourse.and its just different from all the places i have been. if anyone has an other suggestions for where i should look please tell me. Thanks everyone.

Have you looked at the Thattched Cottage? I hear the food is very good there and they have a water view too. Lands End is excellent too.

John Anthony's is approximately 15 minutes depending on traffic further than Riviera. I visited both a few weekends ago, and it's really not much of a difference. WWW.JOHNANTHONYS.com/

04- Also check out the Harbor Club in Huntington. That's where we're having our reception! The food and service are excellent there and its on the water. The place is owned by the same people as John Anthony's. I highly reccomend them!

IF This was me and was not overly impressed with the food, I would keep looking.
You may not agree with me, but I wanted a place that had good food, because that is what people remember. When I had my food tasting at Coral House I literally cleaned my plate as did FH. The food there is awesome.
Many say Wedding food is typically not the best of cuisines, but I have been to weddigs where I loved the food, and also have been to some where the setting of the pace was beautiful and the food was bland- what did I remember- You take a guess.
Ultimately it is your decison- please keep us posted.
