i had my last dress fitting today - little bit of a problem...
the halter on my gown has scalloped lace edges that scratch/irritate my neck quite a bit - i know that dr scholls has these peel and stick moleskin things for the feet to prevent blisters - do u think it would be ok to out this along the strap? I had asked the seamstress to sew satin into the strap but she said it will 'show through the lace' she reccomended I could put cornstarch powder around my neck and it won't irritate me - idk what to do its going to be kind of annoying. Any other advice/suggestions? TIA...

maybe organza instead of satin under the lace? it would probably be less likely to show through than satin and might be softer than the lace. not sure though.
you could buy BodyGlide and try that. marathon runners use it. its anti-chafe/anti-friction. its application is like deodorant. i use it on my feet when i wear ballet slippers or something without socks. it definitely helps.
or just drink alot so you don't feel it after awhile...

moleskin is seriously sticky i would NOT use it, it could 1) potentially ruin your dress, 2) if it sticks to your dress and the fabric isnt totally straight itll end up beiong and even worse situation
i think the most comfortable thing to do would be to attach fabric on the underside like you suggested.... maybe she could do like a silk instead thats kind of transparent

what about double sided tape, because then the tape is touching you and not the dress.

How badly would the satin show? You are justy talking satin on the inside right where it is against your skin? I think that seems like the best idea. I mean it is only the back of your neck right?
Honestly, I doubt anyone wold notice and if they did (and had any smarts) they would realize why it is there anyway.
Also how are you wearing your hair up or down?

im assuming you meant the whole entire thing itches like from where it connects at the side of your boob area, lol all the way up to the back of you neck. like someone else said, maybe try a different more shear material like organza or what about a very light almost shear chiffon material. theres plenty of times that lace goes over another material cuz ibviously dresses that are lace from head to toe have something underneath so you wont be nakey. so yeah, i think no matter what, the best bet it to put something underneath because you want to be your most comfortable and feel great that day. its wont thing heals hurting or something but itchy...omg i would die

i agree with Shauna, i dont think anyone is going to notice it... its important that you arent uncomfortable in your dress so do whatever you need to do to make that happen

i agree with everyone else .... what about like a nude colored satin or something so it's skin colored and won't look like you have fabric underneath?

Thanks everyone - she already sewed a piece of organza inside the strap and it didn't help - its seems to be the edges that are irritating me, as its those scallop edges... gonna try the moleskin and maybe just some small squares that are irritating me in those bad areas...
