I had my shower and bachelorette party yesterday!!! NOW WITH PICS PAGE 2!
YAY!!!!!!!
It was lots of fun and I'll post pics later!
As Per Rob-Luvs-Me's request, I'm double posting the review portion at the top.
It was AWESOME.
Since I was completely convinced that it would be NEXT weekend instead of this weekend, I was
Everything was in my hometown area. The shower was at my Parents' house in New Fairfield, CT, and the BP was at my favorite bar, Hot Shots Grille in Newtown, CT.
BIGGEST SURPRISE OF ALL: My Matron of Honor, who I thought wasn't coming, flew in from Florida for the weekend. This meant that 6 of my 8 BMs were there, and it was REALLY AWESOME. She brought her own wedding album with her, and everyone was then able to see pictures of me last year, when I was about 30 pounds heavier, and could then REALLY see the difference of how good I look now!
The theme of the shower was 'Disney Princesses' because I have a major Disney Princess Complex. My Maid of Honor found 8 Princess Storybooks for the 8 BMs. So each BM took a Disney Princess and bought me a gift based on the theme of that Princess. 'Belle' bought me a clock (Cogsworth), 'Ariel' put together a 'Date in a bag' to the Beach, 'Jasmine' bought me a Genie's Lamp and offered me 3 wishes (I didn't have to make them right away), 'Pocohontas' couldn't come, but she sent self tanning lotions and such for Pocohontas Perfect Skin, LOL, 'Mulan' bought me China, 'Cinderella' put together a Fairy Godmother bag with lots of little goodies including slippers and foot care, a 'Midnight' scented candle, a roasting set, an oven mit and scrub brush, etc., and 'Snow White' couldn't come, and will bring her gift when she comes out to the wedding.
BEST GIFT: My Maid of Honor, 'Sleeping Beauty,' spent the last month MAKING A QUILT to match the one on my registry (which my Mom's college roommate bought for me, btw - the other half of the present arrived last week). It's beautiful, in similar fabrics and textures to the one we registered for, and she stitched an inscription inside one corner - 'Rachel & Adam 8-29-04 'heart' Donna.' The '&' was actually a G-clef - the symbol of the wedding. And the heart was actually a heart, not the word.
My mom, being the digital photography goddess that she is, printed up a photo album of pictures from the shower for me while I was at the BP. I will post them later on.
ONLY PROBLEM: My trial picture was on EVERYTHING! I have to be careful when I show FH pictures now because he can't see the trial pics! The picture was also on the cake, and when Mom served said cake she didn't want to cut up my face, and so the only remaining part of the cake had my picture on it, so I couldn't take home the leftover cake. I guess that's all for the best though. And not a REAL problem, except that I would've liked more cake!
Bachelorette Party
We went to my favorite bar, Hot Shots Grille (or Hot Shots II), and sang Karaoke all night. It was SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My BMs and a few other friends were all there, and they all went around the table, giving little speeches about how much they loved me and why. They were honestly the nicest things ever said to me. During this time, my friend Kelly, who just had a baby, asked me to be the Baby's Godmother!!!!!!!!!!!! We drank and sang all night. My friends gave me a shot glass to wear around my neck that said 'Buy me a shot, I'm tying the knot!'
All in all it was an INCREDIBLE weekend. My BMs are the most wonderful girls a bride could ask for. I'll post pics as soon as I have digital copies of them.
