I HAD MY SHOWER YESTERDAY!!!!
I was so completely and utterly surprised! I couldn't believe it. My parents totally tricked me by telling me that we were going to lunch and a show with some friends of their, so that I was dressed nicely. When we got to the restaurant (a chinese restaurant in Merrick), my father asked me to get his glasses case out of the car because he 'forgot' it, and he really had to pee, so he had to run in. ![]()
When I got inside, I couldn't find him, and I asked the owner if he saw him, and he asked if I was there for the party. I was like, 'Um, no, he just came in and had to use the bathroom.' Duh! I saw him waving to me from the back of the restaurant, which I thought was odd because the place was practically empty. I got to the back and there was a private room, and I saw gifts on the table, and then I saw my father with a camera and my best friends who traveled quite a bit to get there and other family and friends, and I freaked out! I actually turned around and walked away and practically fell on the floor!
Apparently, my mother, who has been very difficult about this wedding since day one, and my sister, who lives in Texas and couldn't be there![]()
, have been planning this since we changed our wedding date. My two best friends have been working their butts off to make this happen, my FH knew all about this the entire time, and his mother has been keeping it a secret, too!
I couldn't believe the people that showed up. People from out of state, who we simply can't invite to the wedding (pretty much everyone there was originally going to be invited to the big wedding, but are not invited to our small wedding), came to celebrate with me. I completely lost it when one of FMIL's best friends, who is the mother of one of FH's best friends, showed up. The woman is dying of cancer, and came to Merrick from Dix Hills just to be at my shower.![]()
I was completely floored by the whole thing and was shaking for the first hour! I know a ton of people took pics, some digital, some not, so when I get them, I'll post them.
Just wanted to share. It was an incredible day and we got some awesome gifts!
