I HATE doing report cards!

I HATE doing report cards!

BLEH! I hate having to write the comments. We have to write an entire page for each student, and honestly, as the music teacher, I don't have much to say. I see them two days a week, not enough to really give a page worth of comments. ARGH! Just needed to vent. Thanks!

You have to WRITE a whole page- YUCK! We just pick 2 numbers and the computer generates comments- at time too generic for my taste but I would never want to write a page on each student.

i hate writing the comments too...ugh, but we only have to write a few sentences....our report cards go out on the 31st of the month and i've already finished more than half of them.

I'm almost done with most of them. Our school 'prides' itself on its attention to the comments. BLEH! I have no idea to what to say about the kids who are just good. There's nothing exceptional about them, but nothing bad. I filled most of the pages with course description BS. It's like I want to rip my hair out with these!

I always thought the same...

especially in NYC when I had 170 students a semester

I loved to hear the teachers in the 'burbs complain about their 100

Well, consider me a teacher from 'the burbs' complaining then.

I'm feeling for ya! In kinder we only do them in the fall and in the spring. So, no reports for me right now! But I had to do them 3x a year when I was in sped plus all the sped cr*p! My DH will be settling down to the computer sometime soon to do his. Did you get any done today???? I got A LOT of school work done today!

Best wishes!

Our report cards only allow for suggestions for home support. So, we don't have to tell parents your child is a pleasure...blah blah blah but sometimes I write those comments anyway because some children are a pleasure to have in class. I like the way our district does it because it holds the parents more accountable. It basically tells them what they need to do to help their child improve in school. It doesn't hold only the teacher responsible. Also there is only like three lines for each quarter so you don't have to write a book. But Rachel, happy comment writing !!

I actually got a lot done, and to be honest, the kids are mostly VERY good, so to have to write an entire page can be like pulling teeth. How many different ways can you say their kids does a good job? I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that they have to apply to private high schools and get accepted, so the comments mean a lot in that respect, but not so much for the little kids because they'll be there for quite a few more years.

I actually have 180 something to do them for. I teach grades 1-8, so I have everyone in the school.

OMG 180...full pages?!!! I was lucky I got my 170 in...and I only had to bubble!!!

although if I paid for a private school...that would probably be one thing that I would want to have from the teacher...more personable...

good luck...snow day came at a good time I guess....
