I get so nervous. I am almost 23 weeks - she is usually SUCH an active baby and I haven't really felt her at all today. It is totally freaking me out.

Re: I hate it when the baby is quiet
I feel good but exhausted and I'm still working until May 20th (due June 2nd). The baby is laying on my sciatic (sp) nerve going down the back of my left leg...ouch!!! I'm going to get a prenatal massage next week for my aching body. The doctor told me that the baby is head down and ready to go...but I'm not ready yet. I've got 7 weeks to go.
Can you believe how time flies???

I guess it's just the difference that worries me - if I hadn't been feeling her so often, I wouldn't be worried. I felt her a tiny bit a couple of times in the last few minutes - I think she's in a funny position because I'm not feeling her where I usually do.

Re: I hate it when the baby is quiet
I'm in my 17th week and I just started feeling the baby in the last 3 days. Now I look for it all the time so I know how easy it is to worry. But they sleep alot in there - my sono tech actually told me about drinking the OJ too. It's supposed to make them very active!

Re: I hate it when the baby is quiet
You may not feel the baby move regularly at 23 weeks so try not to worry. You'll probably feel the baby more consistently around 25 or 26 weeks.

Not true, they say that once you establish that you have DEFINITELY felt the baby move, you should feel the baby a few times per day. By 23 weeks you should definitely feel the baby, but like I said only once you've established what it feels like. Lay down on your left side after you've had some COLD water, milk or juice and wait at least 30 min, you'll feel her! If not, call a call to the doctor can't hurt and will make you feel better.

I was just going by my experience, what I've read and what my doctor told me. At that stage it's not uncommon for you to not feel the baby move daily. The baby could be moving but may be in a position that it's movements can't be felt. I didn't feel my baby move everyday at 23 weeks and my doctor told me that I shouldn't worry. Every pregnancy is different, I was just offering a different point of view.

Re: I hate it when the baby is quiet
I go through the same thing with baby movements. I'm 28 weeks and I still freak out if I don't feel the baby move the same way one day to the next.
My OB says that if you are moving around a lot you ... 1. May not notice the movements because you are moving around 2. are rocking the baby to sleep with your movements.
I feel the baby more at night or if I sit at my desk for a long period of time. (More when I'm not moving around)
Once you hit your third trimester most babies are one a 30 minute wake - 30 minute sleep cycle so their movements may be more predictable.
She suggested that if I get nervous about the baby not moving I should eat or drink something sweet, lay down on my left side and count the movements. I should feel at least 6 movements in an hour. If I don't then I should report that to the doctor.
Is this your first baby? My doc also said 1st time moms sometimes have trouble feeling movement unless its an obvious movement or kick.
(Sorry so long!)

Re: I hate it when the baby is quiet
Thanks for all of your great advice ladies - very reassuring. I started feeling her more last night and then again this morning. I think she may be in a funny position. I have read that at 23 weeks it's not that consistent. I read that by 28 weeks you can start counting kicks becuase it is more consitent then.

Re: I hate it when the baby is quiet
I just started my 26th week, and I feel movement now alll the time, but I was like u and got nervous when I didnt feel anything but 'What to expect when your expecting' book said it was normal, and that baby needs extra rest time somedays more then others. Have some juice and relax, I'm sure u will feel activity!
