I hate my dress again.

I hate my dress again.

So I tried my dress on when it came in, and there was a 4 inch gap at the bottom of the corset. Clearly, no good. I found a back-up dress that I could have had here in a week. Mom & MOH were against it, went back to store with 2 of my BM's, went over it all with the seamstress, she says she can fix it, I say 'ok' and go on telling myself that everyone else knows what's best.

I went for my first fitting this afternoon, and she had put in panels down the sides. Beautiful work. It was so well concealed that I thought the seam she left open in the lace overlay to compensate for the hem difference was a tear - I never even saw the panel underneath.

Unfortunately, the dress is now too big. The whole point of getting a corset back was that it's supposed to suck you in that little extra bit. It's tied as tight as it can go, and everyone swears 'It looks tight enough int he back', but it's only barely fitted in the bust, and there's a whole fistful of pouchy lumpy material at my stomach.

Of course, the slim A-line is now a tent-shaped A-line, and there's no chance in hell of having the 3 inch width of corset showing in the back like I wanted. It is literally tied more narrowly than my shoelaces.

I'm just about at the point where I don't even give a $#it what I look like.

i'm so sorry. I loved my dress and fetl to comfortable in it, I can't imagine how you must feel. It's so imp to feel beautiful on your wedding day.
I suggest you try and talk to the seamstress about your options. you still have some time before your wedding to fix this. tell them that it's unaccpetable the way it is and that it absolutely positively has to changed to your liking. Good luck! I really hope it all works out!

I agree with Ev...it's the most important fashion day of your life! You gotta look hot and feel comfortable! Whether it be the 1st dress been altered appropriately or going with the back up dress, you need to do something to make yourself happy. You should totally give a s h i t how you look...but I know you must be so annoyed and exasperated by the whole ordeal. Talk to your seamstress again, and if necessary the manager of the salon to get what you want! HTH! I mean...it is your day after all!

I am so sorry you hate your dress! You need to do what you feel is right, even if others don't agree because bottom line, you have to look at the pics for years to come and you want to smile and think about how beautiful you felt in your dress, not how you wished you would have listened to your gut!

They can't put a smaller panel in the dress?

im sorry that you are having this unecessary stress... do you think going to a different seamstress would help? Are you being too hard on yourself and its actually okay? Try to find someone that will give you the harsh truth and then make decisions. Its hard to marry the love of your life and not look stunning but good luck!

I go back in 2 weeks, by which time she will have put the sleeves on and hemmed it. I guess I'll just eat like a linebacker until then. Thanks ladies.

Re: I hate my dress again.

I had an issue with the top of my dress as well. It sounds like it might be the boning in the corset. The women who made my dress had to put in extra boning so the fabric would lay flat.

I cant tell you how many times I had to explain to her what was wrong...and went back several times until it was correct.

Try not to worry too much(i know its easier said then done) but she should be able to fix it.

I'm sorry you are going through all this stress. The dress is beautiful! They should be able to alter the dress the way you want it. Taking it in is always easier then letting it out. Just tell them you are not satisfied. It's their job. I also love your bridemaid dress. Can you tell me the manufacturer and style?

Thanks

Thanks, the bridesmaids dresses are Bari Jay 331, and they look fantastic on all of the girls, who range in size from 4 to 20. They are a bit risque though, I wouldn't order one for a junior bridesmaid or someone who isn't comfortable showing max cleavage.
