FMIL (and FH, I might add) commented on the luggage that we registered for. FMIL says 'you know, its kind of expensive. Where are you going that you need such expensive luggage??' I replied 'well, then the bridal party or a bunch of people can pitch in and get the luggage for us. And, we are going on our HONEYMOON!!'.....
Then...
I go to my best friend's son's baptism yesterday and she had a BBQ at her house after. Her DH's friend/god father of her son says to me while I'm eating the cake 'You know, you aren't going to get into your wedding dress if you keep stuffing your face with cake'....I couldnt believe it!!!!

I completely understand where you are coming from. People have been making those comments to me too about eating, etc! People have some nerve at times!

that's funny because my mom was upset at the CHEAP luggage she thought I registered for and instead went to Macy's herself and bought me really GOOD luggage! lol. I'm the one that told HER that we're not world travelers and don't need luggage that's that expensive, and she said that we'll have it forever, so just keep it if I like it when I open it at my shower (meanwhile, she's buying me a million things... just a guess... but I think she's excited for her daughter. lol).
I have a BBQ thing with my FH's family this Sunday... I'm sure I'll have some comments to report back here afterwards.

Ditto, with the food. With comments such as that you just have to let it slide off, people could be so cruel with words. It's your and FH's wedding, you can do whatever you want.
