I hate pop ups!!!!!

especially the ones about pop up blockers!!!!!

i have pop up blocker - why is it not working for me?

Ah the bitter irony...a pop-up ad about pop-up blockers.

I duuno, mine do not work either.....I was supposed to have this great pop-up blocking program from Mac...it cost me a fortune, too

I find that some websites are worse than others.....like hotjobs & monster

pop up blockers for some reason cant block 100% of pop ups, which sucks, I hate them as well

Try running an anti-spyware tool like spybot-search and destroy or adaware. A lot of pop-up originate thru those little nasties.

I have both of those and still get pop ups, I guess we have to get used to them

Have you updated spybot recently?? Also something else to consider is a software firewall like Norton Internet Security.

If it is spyware then you have a problem. If you don't, have have tried the google toolbar? It comes with a pop up blocker and it works well for me. You may also want to consider installing spyware guard (freeware, do a search for it).

people of always figureing out new methods to by-pass pop up blockers - more then likle, you have spyware...

so spybot s & d you must download...

the yahoo toolbar and google toolbar both work really well for me. (i also run adaware and spybot just about everyday too)

do a search on line for adaware and download it. I use to get so many pop ups, you couldnt even type a post or an email, they'd keep popping up (despite the yahoo & google pop up blockers). But the adaware download fixed the preoblem right away and it's worked great since. And it's free too.

What I found to work for me on both my work computer and my home computer is a browser called Slim Browser. I use this instead of Internet explorer, and instead of Netscape. It works excellent. I havent gotten a pop up since I downloaded and installed it.

I recommend it 100%. If you want to download it, then goto google and do a search on 'Slim Browser'.

Its real simple. The people that write the HTML code for the pop-up ads are finding ways to defeat the best known pop-up blockers.

The only real way to defeat pop-ups is to not download any 'web games' or anything off the internet. Once that stuff is on your PC... its almost impossible to take off (even with spyware removal tools).

Tell me about it - we have something in our computer that won't go away. I envy everyone that has had long term success with ad-aware, sbybot, and anti-virus software. We actually have something that Norton's detects in auto scan but not found in a full scan. The IT guy in my office is going to show me how to re-burn my hard drive and reinstall everything. What a PITA!!

I am about to reinstall everything on a work PC here at my office because SOME PEOPLE here at work can't follow the simile rule 'DO NOT install any personal software'. Stuff like this pisses me off cause it literally wastes my time.

I think its time to tighten up restrictions on the network for the users here.

I am scarded to even open unfamiliar sites while I am at work. I am really good friends with the IT people but they would KILL me if I downloaded internet crap on my computer
