I have to start by saying that through this entire process, I've been stress free and totally cool about everything. Now of course with that said, I went to the post office today to buy stamps...of course no place has any cute 'love' or wedding types stamps until July..too late for my invites....so I had to just get the flag stamp for my response cards...not my ideal but whatever its just a stamp...ok now here is the part that I'm trying to be cool about but I'm just having a little bridezilla inner moment that I need to share...
our outter stamp is 59 cents...so I'm being told to put a flag and some sort of stamp with a ram..or some other kind of wild animal on my envelopes...I realize I can just pay extra but I'm cheap and have a hard time paying more then I need to for a stamp...but a picture of a ram really?? now if the ram had a veil or a heart coming out of its a** then maybe :)
sorry so long just need to vent..I mean I know its just a stamp but I really wanted something pretty

Since the outer envelope stamps went down in price, can't you just buy the old wedding stamps and pay a few more cents each?

if you are looking for the old wedding stamp your best bet is to try ordering thru the post office on line.. www.usps.com most of them do not have it anymore at the post office(i've checked a couple of places).. i ended up getting a 60 cent stamp and the liberty bell instead.. they blend but are def not wedding like! oh well.. just a stamp in the end!

I wound up ordering custom stamps from zazzle - I paid double, but instead of a ram, I have cream colored roses for the inner and outer envelopes.

The problem with buying the old wedding stamps and paying more $$ is that they are attached to the old .39 stamp and you have to put an extra stamp to make up the difference anyway.

I ran into the exact same situation today, I ended up getting the old 63 cent stamps for the outer envelope. Mine would have cost 58 cents but I refused to do the Ram!! The old 63 cent stamps are not too bad, they have a picture of some canyon in Utah and are a red color. For my RSVP cards I went with the liberty bell. I'm not thrilled about it, but I know people are just going to throw the envelope out anyway, so that makes me feel a little better!!

and why a RAM!! out of all the animals in the animal kingdom...I would have even gone with a cute little pig...but anything with horns i'm thinking is not making its way onto my invite:)

I hated the postage part of our wedding. I had to go to 5 post offices to find wedding stamps. I would call they would say they would have them, and then then when I got there, they would be out. They never even checked first. One place swore they sold out of the ones they had between the time I called and the time I showed up. I ended up putting 2 purple 39 centers on 20 of them because the post office I finally found that had them only had 5 books left of 63 and I needed 6.

ETA: BTW if you really wanted to wait, your invitations don't need to be out until 8 weeks before the wedding. You are getting married in Sept, so you can wait.

zazzle.com is SO worth the extra few cents....i custom made stamps with two gold wedding bands and the words 'your invited...' in pretty script! and yes people did notice (i just used the regular love stamps for response....u can probably get them from the post office website). lol but hey - some people might get a kick out of the ram :)

i totally agree with you! i started yelling at the post office when they said the new stamps wouldnt be coming out til the end of june(the 27th). I said to him, dont you know its the height of wedding season and now we're all getting screwed over with ugly stamps! of course he justlooked at me and said uhhh wait til the 27th?! Originally we wanted to send it out at the end of next week because our wedding is labor day weekend and i know a lot of family and friends are going away for the summer so we wanted to catch them before they left...we changed our mind. We are going to stuff them and have them all ready to go minus the stamps and on the 27th go bright and early buy all the wedding stamps we need and then send them right off. Although we do have to send a few out with ugly stamps earlier bc we know people are going away. And i agree, there's no reason in my mind to pay extra to get stamps printed. We're trying to cut costs as much as possible and that would be an unnecessary expense.
