I hate working in a cubicle!!!!

I'm sitting here, trying to get work done, and two of my co-workers are chatting in the next cubicle, and the woman in the office behind me is constantly talking loudly on the phone or talking to herself. I can't concentrate for sh*t!!

We are in a ‘swing floor’. Our cubbies are so SMALL (which is so sad) that we are all nearly sitting on top of each other!

The girl to my right keeps clearing her throat so loudly, she ALWAYS has a ‘cold’ so she says. She’s been working here for MONTHS (still a cold, come on!?). I’m talking LOUD sudden nearly coughing clearing of throat (she’s done it threes with me just writing up to this point) nearly scares you to death! Heaven help you when her cell phone goes off and she goes off on a tangent on the phone. I always think ‘someone’s in trouble’. I don’t know the language either. Never mind her CONSTANT nervous giggle.. it will make your skin crawl. At first we all laughed with her. She giggles at EVERYTHING. It’s so annoying!

Then you got Lil Miss Can’t be Wrong sitting across from me (not wall side) and she loves to just call me over like some sort of dog “Veronica! I have a question”. No Sh!t, you’re a dummie and I’ve got YEARS of experience on you but I’m not your puppet! Worse, she almost always does this when I’m on the phone. How rude! When she’s not screaming for help or with her headsets on working (lovely) she’s screaming into her phone. Hearing her talk nearly gets me sick. Two Words “Walking Lawsuit”. Then she goes off into Foreign Language gambits which (unbelievably) is even louder. Norwegian

Then there’s the girl caddy corner on the other side of my cubbie wall. She just moved to our floor. Doesn’t understand just how close we are. We ALL hear her phone conversations!

There’s the Cell Phone man sitting next to the Norwegian who seems to ALWAYS have his cellphone on High volume when he’s NOT at his desk.

There’s the girl on the other side of my wall who has a radio that makes funny little static type sounds that sound very electrical and are loud and annoying when it’s trying to find a station or if it’s on certain types of advertisements. Sounds like bad morse code. I finally lost it once and said “MAKE IT STOP!” at which you heard three other people giggle.

Lets add in the annoying paper and hiss sounds from both the color printer behind me and the black and white just two cubbies away. I have my own printer on my desk.

I feel your pain....what a smart company I work for that they seat me in a cube that the opposite side is the main hallway...and therefore everyone can hear my HR related 'confidential' phone calls.. And I love it when people decide to hold meetings standing against the wall opposite my cube...

I feel ALL your pain - however I dont even rate high enough in the food chain to HAVE A CUBICLE

Talk about no privacy! No walls, no dividers - NaDA

I sit at a desk , maybe 5 feet away from my closest coworker. We share a printer and such. There are two other assistants perhaps 20 feet away from us, and we are considered a 'cluster' (i.e., every attorney that is assigned to each of us .. and we each have 3 attorneys .. can ask ANY of us to help them out) Makes for some fun days at the office

The ABSOLUTE BEST : when these attorney big wigs, each of whom have beautiful , gorgeous offices and amazing window views, decided to conduct their BUSINESS by screaming at the top of their lungs standing near my unprotected desk, or in the hallway directly next to my desk...

I would give my left arm for even a fraction of their office space, yet they insist on invading mine!!

I have to admit that I could have it worse, reading your situations. Many of my colleagues, who are externs at other sites, don't have their own computer or phone. I'm grateful for that. It's just really hard to do confidential work at a cubicle, especially in terms of phone calls. When I need to see a child for testing or therapy, I have to find a room at the agency to use. It's not a terrible situation..it's just that some of the people around me are really loud, especially the woman in the office right behind me. However, I just heard that she's leaving here in a month of so!!
