i just started a new job working as a medical assistant. BUT... i draw blood and play with pee as FH would say... and i dont want to wear my engagement ring cuz im constantly taking rubber gloves on and off all day long. Anyone have any ideas on what i can wear to still show im engaged with out wearing my ring. ????
i was going to wear it on a chain and well im just paranoid that it will brake and ill lose it!

Re: I have a ???
i'd wear it just like you said, on a chain around my neck ...
for the longest time i wore my moms engagment ring on a chain and it never broke ... and i was a firefighter for 2 1/2 years ...
i honestly don't know how you could show you are engaged without the ring....
you stumped me girl!

yea that's an idea... or one of those claddaugh rings (spelling is all messed up i know that) ... it's irish, and if u wear it on your left ring finger with the heart facing towards you, it means your engaged or something ... i don't know! lol ... but the engraving is not a bad idea ...

Re: I have a ???
As a nursing student, I wear it all day at the hospital (despite the blood, pee and gloves issue lol). When I did rotations in the NICU, they suggested that I wear it on my shirt, and it was pretty secure that way. Just take a STRONG safety pin, put the ring on it, and put it though your shirt around the front collar or something.
If you put it on a necklace, that might work just as well though! It's unlikely that it'd break BUT you always risk having a 'crazy' patient who'd see it dangling and would want to pull at it. I don't even wear hoop earrings meds make those patients do strange things, so better safe than sorry.
What kind of floor do you work on?

i have a cladda (spelled wrong) ring we both wear them since im irish. but its not the same since ive worn the same one since i was 7....:) when we got engaged i bought him one! i think im leaning towards the plain band. i work in a clinic and theres some crazy people who see diamonds and go nuts not taking a chance..lol... I do everything its a family practice also a walk in clinic so u never know whats going to come in the door. I was applying to a nursing program but i think i really like X-ray tech better so now im applying to that.

No! Not conceited at all Megan! You should be super proud of yourself!
I'm not too sure what kind of nurse but definitely a Nurse Practitioner some day. I think I'll work as an RN in the Medical Surgical unit for 2-3 years for experience then I'll go back to Grad school. I love the neonatal/labor and delivery unit though too so I'll probably end up there! I can't wait!

Re: I have a ???
I would get the band, I used to wear my grandmothers ring on a chain and one of my kids(im a teacher..lol) pulled on it and not only broke the chain but the ring went flying through the air, it took me almost 2 hours to find it. Granted I didn;t loose it,but I never wore it to work again..HTH....Congrats on your new job by the way my FH aunt is a trauma nurse at Huntington Hospital and she LOVES it.....who cares how long is takes as long as you are doing something you love...

LoL it's gonna take me 6 yrs too
I'm 21 as well but I started school with Pre-Med and wanted to become a Pediatrician!
I didn't change my major to Nursing until late in my Sophmore year so I lost LOTS of credits and they made me start with the Freshman Nursing courses
THEN I ended up getting a D (69 average) in one of my Jnr year classes so I lost even MORE time since I had to redo it (Nursing teachers suck big time)!!!
