I have a big problem.....

with my invitations.

I am not talking to my stepfather and my mother wants me to put his name on invitation which I don't want to. She said I am going to make people talk I don't care about the people. He never respect me as a daughter. My father pass away when I was 8 Years old. So I want to put his name on invitation.

FH and I are paying for the wedding but my FI parents want there names on the invitation. So my FI wants there name on it (for respect).

This is the way I want to do it. Please be honest I want your opinion.

Re: I have a big problem.....

One of my brothers and SIL paid for their own wedding (and I likely will be, too)... Both sets of parents contributed to help out with the wedding, though. I think they worded their invites something like,

Together with our parents,

BRIDE
and
GROOM

request the honor your presence at our wedding... (or whatever they put).

It was something along those lines. I can probably look it up. This was no names went on it.

I wish I had an easy answer for you if you want to put names on it. I'd say do what you are most comfortable with...

ETA - I think the way you laid it out is very nice. If your stepfather has been in your life a long time, though, I guess I can see your mother's argument. Again, do what you are most comfortable with!

I think the wording was similar to this:

Together with their parents
BRIDE'S FIRST MIDDLE LAST NAME
and
GROOM'S FIRST MIDDLE LAST NAME
request the honour of your presence
at their marriage
on DAY, the FORMAL DATE of MONTH
YEAR
at FORMAL TIME o'clock in the TIME OF DAY
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

I think this is perfect. But I also think you can add the part about your father like you planned to.

You can also put:

Mary Jane Smith

daughter of Mrs. Alice Anderson and the late Mr. John Smith

and

Robert Mark Jones

son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones

invite you to attend blah blah blah.

This way, you mention your father, not your stepfather and you can placate your mother by saying that at least step-father's last name is on the invite.

I think that is fine, especially that you and your FH are paying for it. It seems as if he is not a nice person so why do you want to give him credit by putting his name on your invitation. Are you walking down the aisle with your mom?

I am not sure yet I am walking down with my grandfather but I am not sure if I am walking down my mother too. I am thinking about it.

Re: I have a big problem.....

I like what you wrote. The only suggestion I have is maybe under your name you could put daughter of YOUR DAD'S NAME and your moms name.

It's a tricky situation but I am certain that the girls on here who are more experienced with the parent thing will help you out. Good Luck!
