I have a question about BF. (Please no one take offense).

For all of you Moms to be or BTDT Moms did you always see yourself breastfeeding your children? At this point, we are not pregnant, but the idea of breastfeeding is not an attractive one to me. Honestly, it seems wierd and extremely unpleasant to me, even though I know it is totally natural. Anyone else totally apprehensive about it all through pregnancy, but saw it in a new light after the baby was born?

I used to feel that I would not breast feed until I learned a lot more about it. I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with not wanting to bf though. It is a huge committment and not very easy my case. It is a personal decision and you shouldn't have to feel bad making it.

I always new I would BF. Maybe it is because my Mother BF me, my brother and sister. It is definitely a personal decision and one should you should make only if you want to do it. It is not easy in the beginning and very time consumming. I absolutely love it but if I wasn't so gung-ho in the beginning I probably would have stopped with-in the first couple of weeks. If you can make it past the first month you can do it. I would recommend reading up on it and taking a BF class, once the time is right This can help you make your choice and if you opt not to that doesn't make you less of a mother or a woman, it really isn't for everyone

I really wanted to BF my daughter even before she was born. It worked out really well with her. She latched on in L&D and we were off. My second child was a BFing nightmare. He wouldn't latch on, was never satisfied, screamed and wouldn't sleep. Finally I ended up switching him to formula with cereal in it. My last child was also a BFing breeze. He was a joy because I was afraid that with my first son it was my fault and Anthony let me know that sometimes it just isn't meant to be.

Good luck! It will work out the way it is supposed to for you and your child

PRIOR to ever getting pregnant I was absolutely NOT ever going to BF...I didn't like the feeling at all...not for pleasure or anything else like that if you know what I mean.

Well my daughter will be 5 months and I'm still breast feeding like a champ....go figure, your whole world changes when you have a kid.

I have 5 weeks left, and I still have no desire to breastfeed! I feel the same way. I know it's natural and all, but to me, I hate to say it, it seems gross and embarassing. Probably the wrong word to use, but I never, ever had the desire to breastfeed. My DH on the other hand feels really strong about this. He definitely wants me to. I'm feeling uncomfortable about the whole thing too because I have to go back to work at 6 weeks, so I'll have to pump during the day. To me, that's embarassing, awkward, and uncomfortable. I am a very shy person, and don't like to do anything in front or around people to begin with. I still have a hard time getting changed in front of my DH, and it's been 10.5 years! So, this is going to be rough for me. Now, who knows, I might change my mind once the baby comes, but for right now... I'm still worried about it. We both already took a breasfeeding class, and I still can't seem to feel great about it. Anyway, don't feel bad about not wanting to, even though I don't want to.

not PG yet...but my BIL and SIL have La Leche Leagued me to death...that I don't want to do it to spite them!! I mean I'm not even PG yet!!

but they have also lectured me about not working...so I shouldn't take it out on BFing...but I have my fears and anxiety about it too...

Melissa have him have the baby latch on and he may feel differently I wanted to send you It stinks that your DH is putting pressure on you. Even if you just nurse for 6 weeks the baby still gets the benefits

I am not BFing, nor have I ever had any interest in trying. It's just not for me. I'm one of those 'to each his own' kind of people, so I fully support you in doing whats best and right for YOU.

There have been MANY people who tried to bully me into BFing. One relative kept making me *promise* I'd try it in the hospital. She even called me the day Nicolas was born to ask if I had. I wish I had the balls to tell her to mind her own business!!!!

I am 99% not BFing either.
I am having 2 babies and going back to work full time after 12 weeks and it just doesn't fit into my life. Maybe I will try while I am home for a month or 2 and ween them off quickly because I don't want to wear breast pads, leak while I am in Court and pump while I am in the office.

Maybe it is selfish but I just don't think it is for me.

It is not selfish not to breast feed. If it isn't for you- then it is not the right thing for your baby either. Why force yourself and end up resenting the child and dreading feeding time? To each their own.
