How many of you have had the epidural, and if you have, did you experience any back pain from it? I've heard many women do have this experience after the fact & since I've already got a bad one - I fear my only option is to use IV drugs.....

I had lower back pain to begin with (horse-back riding accident) I would say I had some discomfort since. (not major) I had a c-section so I didn't have a choice.
Talk it over with your doctor.

Are you worried about getting it or afterwards? I think (again, never did that before) that during the epidural you are pretty numb and cannot feel it at all. I would discuss your fears with your doctor and read whatever you can find on the subject.

I had an epi. The doc hit a nerve in my spine thougt I would die ( - one million time worse that a root canal without novacaine). My advice if you get one, and they say dont move, DONT!!!, There's a reason why they say it!! Anyway, did have a small amount of discomfort after I came home from the hospital. It lasted just short of 8 weeks. It was not super bad. It really only bothered me if I bent over or if i held the baby to long, or tried to lift him in his carrier. MY epi never kicked in, so for me it was not worth it, howver from the women I have talked to that had an epi, and had minor pain afterwards like I did, say it was more than worth getting it!! Also my doc said my back pain afterwards could also be attributted to my body readjusting post preggers body, and not the epi.
