I have a stomach ache!!!

I just got engaged this Christmas. I was excited because we decided on the date almost immediately, the place is done, and I know who is doing my make up. After reading all your posts - I have a stomach ache. I thought I was ahead of the game only to learn I have ALOT to do.... Does anyone have a time line, books they like, software, anything to help me organize??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: I have a stomach ache!!!

There is a book that I keep all my contracts and notes in---- It is a yellow binder that is sold in Barnes and Noble in the Wedding Section, called The Ultimate Wedding Planner and Organizer....

Also, get a checklist off of the knot.... It gives you the 18 month and down countdown.... but things really kick into gear at a years time. Next up for you, is the music and the photographer....

My godparents were nice enough to offer their house in the Hamptons. It's not as posh as it sounds, but has beautiful grounds. Their daughter got married there and it was amazing! White chairs, little bistro tables, Tents... I can't wait!

cassie... i have what i think (& a lot of other people have shared my thoughts) is probably one of the better wedding planners. it's in the car right now... i know - i'm a big help - but if you go to a bookstore & look in the wedding planner section, it's a big pink book with a bride on the front cover with her FG.... the book is totally great!

I was at the same point you were last year, I had my hall booked, then I booked my DJ (I knew who I wanted), Everything else will come. I just booked my flowers monday. You will be fine, your best bet is to sugn up on the knot and they tell you what should be done at certain times and it was very helpful... Good Luck

Re: I have a stomach ache!!!

When I started planning a year ago I made it a RULE to only do ONE major thing a month.
So the first month was the site, 2nd month the photographer, then band, florist, invites, etc.

And each month I'd do a few 'smaller' things
design the program, pick out jewelry, etc.

It's the best way to plan and I spent 11 months feeling not even the slightest bit too overwhelmed.
You have enough time that you don't have to put too much on your plate all at once. Do it slow and enjoy it.

Re: I have a stomach ache!!!

P.S.
I got everything done WAY ahead of schedule this way and I've pretty much spent the last 2 months doing nothing.

Now I'm doing all the little detials that HAVE to be put off until the end (placecards, programs, welcome baskets) but it was really nice to have that long break where I felt like I didn't have to think about much at all if I didn't want to.

(contrary to popular belief, you don't need an entire year to plan a wedding. I was actually bored until this month and my wedding is in 2 weeks)
