We are trying to put together our rehearsal dinner and I am really stuck.
We have a big bridal party, some people are married, some are dating, some are single, some are family and some are friends.
Heres my question. Do I need to invite the entire bridal party with a guest to the RD? Can I have only married couples bring their spouses, or should I have everyone bring a date or have ONLY the people in the bridal party?
My ffil is paying and I feel really bad that if we invite everyone with a guest it will be about 50 people
What is proper etiquette for this situation? Please help

Re: I have an important question
I have the same situation and my plan was to invite only those who are married or who have a sig other with a guest.
ETA: And, even more people for me, b/c some of my BMs are young and no doubt their parents will have to bring them.

Re: I have an important question
Luckily - i don't have this problem & because my FMIL BITES THE WEENIE - we are now paying for our RD...
My MOH had this issue last year and she asked that just the BP members come - not their spouses or boyfriends. All of the boyfriends & all were invited to drinks after the dinner - but the dinner was BP and pastor ONLY...
She did 'fret' about this for several months - but it all worked out fine this way!

Re: I have an important question
Ugh, I didn't even think about this. On my side its fine, but on FHs side his cousin is our RB and his older brother is reading in the ceremony and knowing their parents they will not be allowed to go without them (and it's not just for a free meal at a nice place). So if his aunt and uncle come that means we have to invite his other aunt and his aunt and uncle. I'm just going to say to him BP only if the kids can't come, they can't come. Because it won't be fair to me that all of my aunts and uncles won't be able to come.
ETS: I'm so glad I wrote this out lol

Re: I have an important question
I think you should invite the BP and their spouses or significant other. If someone is single, I don't think it's necessary for them to bring a guest to the RD.

I agree. I just went to a RD and guests were not invited.

Hmmm...well I think I'm just going to have the BP, if they have spouses or sig others, them too. The wedding is the next day anyway, so they should go home and get some rest afterwards...lol. Even still, we come out to about 30 people. I don't think it's wrong to ask people to come solo if they are single...they'll all be partying soon enough!

Re: I have an important question
I would have to agree with some of the girls above, singles come alone and those with a spouse or in a serious relationship come together.

We are doing the BP and their significant others/spouses only. The single people (which is actually only one guy so its not that big a deal) will not be invited with a date. I mean, you gotta draw the line somewhere right?? lol

Re: I have an important question
if someone is single and not seeing anybody - theres no reason for them to bring a date. Ive never been offended when i was single and not asked to bring a date to a rehersal dinner.

Re: I have an important question
you should only invite the BP & your parents....it is a rehersal dinner not a pre-party, so you shouldnt feel obligated to invite all the xtra's...remember u are paying for this so each head counts.

agree - if they have a BF or GF, then yes, but not to just bring 'someone'

Re: I have an important question
We did invite all of our BP/readers/gift presenters with guests but it was because the large majority were OOTers. They had all traveled with their significant others, so it was weird to leave them at the hotel, ya know? Needless to say, our RD was 60 people strong.
I think it's totally okay if you do BP and parents only.
