I have another favor question. Please answer honestly.

I have another favor question. Please answer honestly.

So, for my placecard I am planning to give out a box with 2 good (Jacques Torres) chocolates in each box. I have been doing the math, and to do this it will cost me roughly $300.

This is a little high for me, so my question is, is this chocolate 'favor' enough, or should I go ahead and do my additional idea (which was coffee in a tin and something else....haven't decided on that one yet) which will also come in at around $300.00

also, what are you girls paying for placecards and favors...am I in your ballpark here?

thanks for your help

Give what you can afford. If you wanna cut cost, go for a cheaper candy or go to sams club and buy the candy in bulk. But the favor shouldn't stress you, give what you can, and nothing more.

I absolutely think that the chocolate favor is enough. I wish we'd done that for our favor.

The place cards cost $60 from gaddisdesign.com. Our favors cost us just under $100. We made CDs and burned, printed labels, assembled them with my brother's help. However, my parents wrapped the CDs and attached jordan almonds to the top of them and I don't know the cost of that.

1. Favors - I think your chocolate place card favor is more than enough. A favor is just a small token to thank your guests for coming. And - EVERYONE loves chocolate. Not everyone loves dust collectors that just get thrown out - JMHO.

2. Place cards - I was planning on doing them myself (I bought the ones you print out by Gartner). Well, it was a huge mess, my printer broke, and I lost my patience. So, I was planning on paying for them (around $50 I think), but the company had messed up my invitations, so I ended up getting them for free.
They came out beautiful, and totally worth the $50 I would have spent. FM me if you want more detail.

HOpe that helps.

I agree with EmberLynn... give what you can afford...

I think the chocolate favor is plenty (and tasty).

imo $600 on favors alone is excessive.

I think the chocolate is enough....people love edible favors. No need to do anything in addition.

I would defnitely just do the chocolates.

I got my place cards for free with my invites but I was going to spend around 2 bucks each.

My only gripe (and this is stupid) is that I hate when people eat edible favors AT the wedding. It drives me up a wall and my friends make fun of me.

So I would make sure that baby is tied TIGHT!

really? I don't see how you can stop people from eating the favor at the wedding....I would be happy to see people eating what I gave them.

I agree......IMO - that is kinda pushing it, dictating when someone can eat the favor.

that is my biggest concern...that they'd eat them when they get them and have NOTHING to take home, which I guess is really their fault but it would bother me to no end.

a friend of mine who recently got married gave me a bunch of those metal tins for free...so perhaps I could use them too for a little something extra...like tic tacs or something like that...this way I catch them at both ends.

I dont' think she would stop them necessarily, it's just something that bothers her (and i think she said it was stupid)...and I see her point. I would LOVE for them and be THRILLED for them to eat what I give them, but I don't want to see 100 + people ripping open the favor boxes I JUST put together...I mean, it's not like there's not a TON of food to be had during the reception.

I gave chocolates that doubled as placecards and trust me, people ate them then and there. No one saved them to take home. Of course, mine were dirt cheap and DIY (Lindt truffles, vellum bags, ribbon, place cards that I printed on the 'puter and bought at Staples) so I didn't mind.

I'm not a fan of coffee...but I do think you could do something less pricey and do 2 favors. But again, I don't like coffee, don't go by me, I'm weird. Have you seen the favors at Wrap With Us?

I'm not one to offer advice I spent well over $500 on favors for less than 50 couples...I went overboard and gave 3!

ETA: I realize that I rambled and didn't answer your question. So to answer your , is it favor enough? Yes. Favors are not mandatory and a lot of couples choose to forgo them altogether, so anything, especially a yummy edible favor, is enough.

Jess, I like both ideas...but I agree that both in $$$$ cost is a bit much. What if you did a reg. place card w/out choco..and then have the choc. on the tables??? I was at a wedding with truffles in the box with a personalized ribbon...it was really nice....
something like this...

good luck...

Jess, You cant control what people do.. I say do what you can afford. I personally never remember what favor I got at a wedding-ever. A favor is just a token of appreciation-thats it. I would love to receive chocolate

Jess, love both of the ideas....if you can afford them, go for them....

for me..

Placecards: doing them myself, votive placecards...cost about $125

Favors: will cost about $1,800 ($7-9 pp), most likely will do a donation, but I am lucky because in a Greek tradition the best man pays for them and not the couple....

so I can't really help you....

I believe the chocolates are enough. Like the ladies said, a favor is a token of appreciation. They do not have to be expensive.
