but did not get a response. I would like to have a dance that is for my whole family (kinda like the father-daughter dance, but with the rest of my immediate family too). Is this done? I would like to have a way to honor the special bond I have w/ my family...I lready know of a perfect song that would symbolize it

I say who cares if it is done or not done? if it is special and meaningful to you then go for it. I think its nice to be different and I am sure everyone will be touched by it.

Re: I have asked this before...
what song do you have in mind? It's your day and I think you should do it.
I want to dance with my mom...Mom's get so little recognition so she and my dad are walking with me down the aisle...but I wanted to dance with her too...so I think you should go for it!!

Re: I have asked this before...
I am dancing w/ my dad to 'Wind Beneath My Wings' (the words of the song fit me and my dad's relationship perfectly). The other song I was considering w/ my dad was 'Through The Years' by Kenny Rogers, so I was considering using that. My family and I have been through a lot of stuff together, and I thought the words would go nicely. I know that is considered a big anniversary song, but I really think it would work.

You can always dance in a circle to 'We are Family'.

I am too sappy. I just don't want anyone to be scratching their heads if I do this and wonder what's going on.
I don't know how quite it would work out though...I have me, my mom, sister, and dad. Should we dance 2 and 2, or dance all 4 together. I think it would be more 'organized' in couples.

I think it would look very funny if you were all dancing together, but your a dork like that so you can do it if you want.

Re: I have asked this before...
If I'm a dork, you're a geek! hee...hee.. Yeah, I don't think it would look right the 4 of us huddled together an swaying. I am having my mom walk me down the isle too (along w/ my dad), I wanted to have a verbal sentiment...that also included my sister.
Here are the lyrics...what do you think?
Through The Years by Kenny Rogers -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can't remember when you weren't there When I didn't care for anyone but you I swear we've been through everything there is Can't imagine anything we've missed Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do
Through the years You've never let me down You turned my life around The sweetest days I've found I've found with you Through the years I've never been afraid I've loved the life we've made And I'm so glad I've stayed Right here with you Through the years
I can't remember what I used to do Who I trusted whom, I listened to before I swear you've taught me everything I know Can't imagine needing someone so But through the years it seems to me I need you more and more
Through the years Through all the good and bad I knew how much we had I've always been so glad To be with you Through the years It's better everyday You've kissed my tears away As long as it's okay I'll stay with you Through the years
Through the years When everything went wrong Together we were strong I know that I belonged Right here with you Through the years I never had a doubt We'd always work things out I've learned what love's about By loving you Through the years
Through the years You've never let me down You've turned my life around The sweetest days I've found I've found with you Through the years It's better everyday You've kissed my tears away As long as it's okay I'll stay with you Through the years
The only thing that I don't like about the lyrics in this context is in the 1st verse 'the 2 of us can't do'

Its a good song for a family song, and maybe I will even cry watching you guys dance. I know you will be crying through the whole day. I am very excited about your wedding, I think because you will finally be there after all these years, and also it will be very beautiful.

Re: I have asked this before...
Thanks Alli...I also am thinking that one of our 'must plays' needs to be 'You're Still The One' by Shania Twain. 'Looks like we made it, look how far we've come baby. We may have took the long way, we knew we'd get there some day'. I can't beleive it is finally actually happening, for real. You are right about one thing. All of the 'special' dances (our 1st dance, dad-bride dance, bride-family dance, etc)...I will be crying my eyes out. I think especially when I dance w/ my dad. I think I will need to have my make up air brushed.

I think you should dance your wedding dance to ' At Last'. This is my cousins wedding song and it sounds wonderful when the DJ plays it. It is perfect for you two.

Re: I have asked this before...
My FSIL did this at her wedding. She had her brother (my FH) dance with her, her sister dance with her own husband, parents, & her niece & nephew come up & dance. It was cute.

I think it is a very nice idea. I have heard of other people doing it.
