I had my glucose test on Saturday and I had to go to the hospital today for my Rhogam shot, while I was there my dr called and told me the wonderful news that my sugar is high and I need to come into her tomorrow to discuss diet to control it. Great. I have only gained 14 lbs with this pregnancy and I'm 7 months along, I thought I was doing so good

I had my 3 hour test yesterday and I saw my dr today and she told me my levels are fine and there is no need to worry!!! I'm soooo relieved

It's OK, it happens to a lot of pregnant women. It's only temporary, it will go away after you give birth. The one thing I read about gestational diabetes is it could cause you to have a larger birth weight baby, which of course is not a bad thing. All it means is that you have to be more aware of certain foods that you may not realize have a lot of sugar.
I was also just thinking about this the other day, cause I have a strange feeling i'm going to be told the same thing when I get tested.

PS: The Dr. might just tell you to walk more then usual or get involved in a Pre-natal yoga class.. it helps with gestational diabeties...

I had it.. they do not know what causes it....It actually means you have to test your blood suger everyday 4 times a day and you might have to give yourself shots if you suger is not controled my diet... It is ok.. I actually is a little difficult becasue you have to cointrol your card/suger intake. If you want you can either Fm and you can email me...
The Dr might want you to meet with a dietian.. it is a good idea...
Also get the book.. Managing your gestatiopnal Diabetes... it is a great book..( they might have to order it for you) but if was a great help.

a;so .. if you have toi test your blood suger ask if they have a sample that you can have so you do not have to go out and buy one....
Let me know if you need a blood monitor to use! I have an extra one that I haven't used. You can have it....I use it to check when my sugar goes low!

I'm very happy to report that its not as bad as I thought it was. Acceptable level is 140, I'm 141, my dr is sending me to the 3 hr test and just gave me some guidelines on eating properly. If I fail the 3 hr test then we have some worrying

I had GD...I was on insilin 4X a day. There are differing opinons one the acceptable levels. My endo (diabetic dr) had a 120 1-hour post meal level...and did not use the 140 number that many other use. Anyway, this is NOT your fault. You could have eaten NO sugar for the whole time and still gotten GD. I went to 2 nutrionists and it could not control my GD, but I did have to stay on a strict diet to help with my insilin.
