I have non-stop headaches.....

I have non-stop headaches.....

I have had these non-stop migraine headaches that won't go away and I don't know what it is. It could be the weather. I am not under stress so I just don't get it. The worst thing is that I wake up with them and they linger for hours and I've take advils and some other aspirins. I'm suprised I haven't felt better with the advils because they always do. I'll nap and then feel better but then the next day it comes back. Another reason could be that my bedroom is dry! I feel like that room never gets air and the door has to stay closed all the time so the cat doesn't go in....errrrrrrrrr! What's starting to stress me though is not knowing what is causing these headaches.

You are probably having rebound headaches. Maybe call your doctor and get a stronger migrain medication like Imitrex...that would zap that headache away. When I get rebound headaches sometimes take one more advil (3 total) makes it go away for good....thats what my doctor told me to try.

Is it that time of the month...that can be a cause sometimes.

Re: I have non-stop headaches.....

Try taking Excedrin - it's better for migraines.

This time of year the headaches could also be caused by allergies, so maybe an antihistimine like claritin will help.

There are certain foods that can trigger migraines, I know cheese is one of them, you could do a search for other foods.

Record your eating & sleeping habits and also keep a journal of the headaches - time of day, duration, where the pain is exactly, etc.

Make a doctor's appointment to discuss the headaches, having this info will help them possibily find a resolution.

Hope you feel better

Maybe get a humidifier. Be careful what OTC's you take and how much, could upset your stomach or not work if its the wrong thing. Not that I should talk I usually take more then what I should.

I took an advil two and a half hours ago so i'll take one more now and see. I'm gonna see how I do over the weekend, if it persists then I'm calling my doctor monday morning.

It's not that time of the month yet for me. Not until another week or so.

As someone who suffers from horrible migraine headaches, this is excellent advice. I have been dealing with a nagging headache the past few days, and I know how you feel.

If you are truly having a migraine, the OTC stuff doesn't usually work very well (at least not for me). As another poster said, quite often Motrin/Tylenol/Advil etc. can cause rebound affects and make the headache worse. Imitrex does work wonders for migraine suffers, but you have to first be diagnosed by a doctor that indeed you are experiencing migraines

I totally sympathize with you, constant headaches can totally affect your daily routine and are very tough to pinpoint.. those who suffer with constant and persistent headaches all have to identify their 'trigger' points (be it food, alcohol, sleeping patters, etc) by keeping a journal, and once you do that you usually know what you should or should not do. But even knowing those facts, sometimes you just have to wait it out

Re: I have non-stop headaches.....

funny you should mention this- I have been getting serious migraines every month with my period. I always called them sinus headaches because that is where they felt like they were. Well, this past Tuesday I woke up at 2 AM feeling like someone was stabbing my head. It was so bad I was crying! I went to my doctor the next day and she sent me to have an MRI to make sure there was nothing going on neurologically. Thankfully, everything was fine. She said that migraines often feel like sinus headaches but if there is no fluid coming out of your nose, then it's probably not a sinus headache. She is now sending me to a neurologist at a headache clinic- I just started the investigation today. I will probably go to NY Cornell's headache clinic.

And ironically, my friend just sent me this article today:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040611/hl_nm/sinus_headaches_dc_1

Good luck! I would recommend getting checked out by a doctor and maybe even a headache specialist. Until then, try taking 1 extra strength excedrin and 1 advil- the combo helps and my aunt's doctor recommended it. The caffine in the excederin plus the anti-inflamatory in the advil works. I also find that advil cold & sinus works for me.

Re: I have non-stop headaches.....

I think I want to be on the safe side and call the doctor. I am feeling better and did not have any headaches this weekend so we'll see. I think it has to be the temp in my bedroom because when I sleep comfortably i'll wake up fine but when I don't and I feel it, then I wake with a headache. Also my room is very dry. One of my best friends said she had the same problem in her bedroom when she lived in her old apartment before buying a house.

I want to thank you ladies for your support.

Definately be on the safe side and go to the Dr. I don't mean to scare you or even say this might be a possibility for you... but a few years ago my mom's cousin was having these horrible headaches. She went to the Dr. and they found she had a brain tumor!!!! She had emergency surgery and ended up dying during the operation. She was only 33 years old with 2 young kids. Very scary - so def. go see the doctor just to be safe.

Go to the doc just to be sure..... but something similar happened to me when they switched my birth control pill... the hormone levels were just too strong and it gave me horrible migraines everyday. The ultimately put me back on my original script.

Now i'm scared of going to the doctor for fear that he'll tell me I have a brain tumor.

don't be afraid- it's probably just migraines but you need to get it checked out to rule anything more complicated out. Once they can diagnose it properly, they will put you on a medication to stop them. Isn't knowing better than not knowing and being in pain all the time?

Re: I have non-stop headaches.....

I had a similar problem last summer. I was all of a sudden getting headaches so bad that eventually I would lose my vision or faint. So I went to my regular doctor and she sent me to an amazing neurologist. I had three tests done: a balance test and an MRI of my brain, to make sure it wasn't a tumor, and one other test in the office ( I am sorry but I can't remember the name of it) Anyway, the MRI and balance test both came back negativer but the third test explained what was wrong. Somehow I had calcium particles in my inner ear and they were causing all of my headaches and vision problems. The way they fixed this was incredible. I laid down on a bed in an exam room and they have you wear this sort of headset/glasses where when you look through them you see a screen with a dot on it. They they asked me to follow the dot on he screen with my eyes without moving the rest of my body and they turned my head from the left to the right 3 times. then they took off the glasses I sat up and I have not had once since and it will be a year in June. The whole thing took 5 minutes and there was no pain involved.

They told me that by turning your head in a specific way/pattern it forces the particles to another part pf your ear that has a sort of sticky surface and they stick to it and can no longer move around and give me headaches. Since then I have sent 2 friends to her, one of which has had the problem for 11 years and no doctor could ever figure out what was wrong, and they had the same problem as me, received the same treatment, and both have been headache free since. If you want the doctors information feel free to FM me she is located in New Hyde Park.

Re: I have non-stop headaches.....

Well I just made an appointment for monday june 21 so we'll see how I do the rest of the week.

I'll see how my appt. goes with the doctor and then if anything i'll FM you and ask for that doctors name. Like I said before I feel it coming on while I sleep so it could be the type of pillow or like I said the dryness of the room.

Keep your fingers crossed for me guys.
