I have sunburn!

I have sunburn!

My company picnic was yesterday -- I didnt think I would be outdoors for that long, so I didnt bother putting sunscreen on.

Of course, I ended up being outside for almost 4 hours -- and I'm burnt! It's so itchy, but hurts too much to scratch.

Do I ever learn???

Thanks for letting me vent.

there is an ingredient they put in some aloe (I.C.E) I forget what it stands for...but it helps to neutralize the pain...

I have sUnburn too!! I wish I would have learned last week when I got it....but I had some kind of sunblock spray that FH and I kept applying, but we were also in the water all day, and I don;t care what anyone says, I am not so sure I can believe the bit about it being 'waterproof'.......because this sunburn hurts really really bad, been using aloe with solarcaine in it, it makes it feel better, but its so darn sticky!

Believe it or not, tylenol or advil really does relieve some of the pain.

Re: I have sunburn!

I had a bad burn earlier this week...DH swears that putting cold towels on it to draw out the heat helps. I tried it and it really did help! Also, putting some vinegar on it helps take out the pain. Of course, you'll smell like salad but what's the lesser of 2 evils?
Take care of yourself!!!

I know it sounds really gross, but I work for a dermatologist and have VERY pale skin so I burn - cold WHOLE milk, on a rag takes the sting right out. It sounds pretty nasty but it really works....and I have tried just about every remedy you can think of.....just put a bowl of whole milk in fridge and then dip a rag or towel in.

When I tell that to patients they usually cringe but it always seems to work.

OK..my next question....2when taking a shower, should it be COLD shower to cool off the burn, or HOT shower to keep up the same temp??

Also, Vinegar----regular white vinegar??

I am hurting soo bad....could hardly sleep because its my neck and face and showers and back....I am an IDIOT...altho I LOVE the sun!

I am a sun worshipper but I always burn. Though I have learned I have been going tanning first to get a base.

Ok what I have done in the past and it has always helped, a cool bath. I have noticed a hot shower hurts more because it hits the sting and wow I felt like I was on fire. So a nice cool bath where you can soak helps.

A cool rag also helps for during the day. A nice cool rag drapped over the burn is really relaxing

Noxzema helps too.

The best stuff I ever bought was a cooling aloe gel. BUT KEEP IT IN THE FRIDGE!!! I have 3 bottles of it in my fridge and whenever I have a sunburn it is the ultimate best reliever.

Definatly take some tylenol or advil. It helps with the pain.

Keep your body moisterized as well. Either with aloe or a lotion because your skin will get dehydrated. Keeping it moist will help in the healing and you wont peel as much

Re: I have sunburn!

Last summer I got the WORST burn. I had blisters all over my chest and had to stay home from work due to the nausea and pain.

The doctor told me to buy hydrocortisone cream to stop the itching and to take Advil. It really helps a lot - the hydrocortisone cream moistuizes and sops the itching.
