then the number, right?

I keep getting a hyper busy signal.

My husband and I were experiencing problems trying to call an Argentine cell phone. Is the number a cell phone, sometimes the rules change when calling a cell. We called the international operator and they told us exactly what we had to dial.

You might want to ask an operator. Are you using a phone card?

You have to dial 011 91 22 (or whatever the city code is) then the rest of the numbers.

What city are you trying to call?

You get that hyper busy signal bc the lines aren't cleared so you have to keep trying again until it rings. The traffic making calls there is heavy, esp at certain times.

You might need to take off a '0' (or 1) that may follow the 22. I call Ireland often and many times they give you the number as they would dial locally. Which may have an extra digit.

India is a high fraud country and is sometimes blocked even if you have international dialing capabilities on the line. (sorry - telecom geek here)

This is always tough

I make international calls all day as part of my job. Some cell phones would work with the method you mentioned.

Others make you remove the 1 in the 91

And sometimes I just get so frustrated I call the office my counterpart works at and have them conference in the cell.

I dont know why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.

Thanks everyone - I finally got through, but then no one answered. And it was to tell a kid he got into graduate school, so I was psyched to give good news. Ah well, now I hope he checks his email before he decides to go anywhere else.
