I just can't believe it!!

I know I was shocked when I first went check out photo and video but if it makes you feel any better I'm paying quite a bit more than that! I know. . .I'm nuts!

What stinks is that one year wait...didn't know about that...

You wait a year to get the images so that all prints are purchased through them.

I didn't even like the video but I saw a videographer that I liked anyway.

That stinks!!! I'm pretty sure my photographer gives the digital CD right after you pick out your picks for the albums, which is a couple of months at most.

patken gave me a price at under 4k with video. But i just took out what i didn't want like parents albums and tons of pics in the wedding album. I figured eventually i will take all the good shots my parents will take (father is a semi-pro photographer) and some the pics patken took and make my own album up if needed.

Yea deff. go to velvet and get a price then see which one can beat out the other and figure out what you really don't need also.

i got an excellent deal at Patken that includes photo and video for under $5K - that includes an album for me, two parent albums and all my thank yous . . . i was actually expecting to pay way more for that and i looove their work!

as for waiting a year - i didnt know about that . . . in my contract it says a few months - and i know girls who were married over the summer that got theirs recently

for any girls that were thinking of Patken - i would suggest checking them out anyway, i had a completely different experience there and if anyone needs info - feel free to FM me

I hope you have a better experience at Velvet - and dont book a photog/video until you absolutely fall in love with them!!!!

Hmmm... I met with Tina from Patken and I didn't feel as though she was trying to work with our budget. I felt rushed (we were interupted 3 times) and getting the neg/CD images was important to me. I don't want to wait a year for my pictures!!!

Its also important how they treat you. I've heard great things about patken and alot of people on here love them, but its not right for them to not try to work with you and to rush you. You need to get a good vibe from someone you are hiring and they need to make you feel comfortable. Sometimes vendors forget that you are paying them and they think they can act however they want.

i completely agree with this! I met with Nadire - and she was so awesome. . . she really tried to work in my budget ( even though i didnt tell her a specific price) - and afterwards she left us alone for about 10 minutes so we could discuss the package and bc of that 'alone time' we decided to book right there! ( I was with my MOH not FH at the time so i even got a chance to call him and tell him all the details)

I am sorry you had a bad experience - how they treat you is so important! yuck!

I think they are still worth a visit. Don't go just based on what I was quoted and my experience. It depends what you include in your package and many people get great deals and service!!
