To one of FH's friends (and GM) mom..... so odd... I never even met the woman..
Is it mean if we say no? Do we have to go since its one of his GM's family?
its in November and I have no money to go

Of corse you don't have to go. Just send a few bucks in the mail and say that you can't go. What does your FH say about it?

I wouldn't go or send money unless I was close to them or FH really wanted to goto support his family. If he doesnt care, I would decline

I would decline and tell his GM that you already have a family function that day.

He is like.. 'we should go'... but its at EastWind on a Saturday night so we would have to give a decent gift cause thats not a cheap, small wedding...(i know i shouldnt look at it that way but I am considering i never met the woman)... and being that I never met her I dont even want to spend $100 let alone $300 or whatever. Also its in like 3 weeks so isnt that a bit late to send out invites?
I understand that its one of FH's GM's moms and all so we should be nice, but this particular GM came to our engagement party for about an hour and didnt even give us a card. (again I shouldnt look at it that way, but I am)

I agree it's really late. Maybe you were on a B list since you never met her so I say don't go. I don't think it's rude at all.

3 weeks in not enough notice! When is the RSVP date? I would decline and send a small gift. You could go to bed, bath, and beyond with a 20% off coupon and buy them a nice frame for like $20 and that would be fine. You don't have to send money if you don't attend - you can do a gift. But because you were invited, you should give something.

How horrible would it be for me to re-gift one of the many e-presents I got that I dont want.. (i got like 3 crystal vases).. or buy a gift with one of the million BB&B gift cards I got.. lol
I am just so broke over our wedding that I cant justify giving someone I never met and someone my FH hasnt seen or talked to in years a present.

Definatly do a re-gift. If you have 2 or 3 of something, why not??? lol. None the less, she totally had you on the B list to give you an invite this late. I would def. not go... and just send her the gift you have double of. HA.

You are right, it is late to get the invite for a wedding in 3 weeks from now. I would say you are probably on a B list. I wouldn't feel obligated to go. You got the invite late. You can either think of an excuse, or just send back the RSVP card and mark 'no.'
I once got a wedding invite to a wedding in Michigan with less than 3 weeks between the postmark and the wedding! I was so obviously on the C list. It was funny, the RSVP card had a deadline to reply because the caterer needed to know food preference and the deadline for RSVP-ing was BEFORE the postmark of my invite!

I love FH. I just called him to say I really dont want to go and he was like ' yeah I was thinking about it too and i havent seen them in years anyhow I dont know why we were invited.. We should re-gift one of these dumb vases' lol He read my mind.
Anyhow thanks ladies, I didnt know if it was rude if we said no cause its one of his GM.. but oh well if it is!

What if you just sent a nice card saying that regrettfully, you're unable to attend but that you wish them the best of luck, etc.
