the post office and I'm feeling a little anxious, because I couldn't get them hand-canceled They said hand-cancelling is a courtesy and if you would like to leave them here someone would get to it, because we are short staffed.
I said can I cancel them myself. They said no, they don't give them to customers. So I said even if I cancel in front of you. They said no, but if you would like to get them hand-canceled in front of you, there is an extra charge, but you would have to come back at another time since we are short staffed or another option is to drop them in the Letter Drop and they will go through the machine.
So choose the Letter Drop. I'm sure they will be OK, right? My invitations aren't puffy, there a flat invitation with enclosures. This should be a happy accomplishment for me, I'm probably worrying over nothing.

sorry to hear. i took mine to the post office yesterday and was told the same thing 'leave them and we'll hand stamp them later' i didn't want to leave them though and wonder if they were going to actually do it. i asked if i could do it myself and she said 'sure, if you want to' she set me up on the side and i did them myself. what post office did u go to?

I just left mine with them in a box on saturday. I've heard from a bunch of people already that they received them on monday! I don't think you should worry. Just drop them off, they will definately go out that day. I wouldn't recommend dropping them in the letter drop.d

whew.... i almost forgot about hand cancelling. I'm going to post office today for the stamps, so i'll ask them about it. I usually go to the Franklin Square branch.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a problem. I had a similar issue at the post office in Ronkonkoma. The woman would not cancel them for me since there was a line and she wouldn't give me the stamp because I was not allowed to have it. I asked to speak to the manager because I refused to leave them and he brought me in his office and canceled them for me.
This weekend I went to the Commack post office and had no problem. They gave me the stamp to do it myself so I guess every post office is different.
