I just got laid off

I just got laid off this morning. I am in shock. There were 2 others from my imprint and others across the board. Budget is tough.

Any publishing girls have any good leads??

Sorry to hear about your lay off. I know how you feel b/c I just got layed off and Feb. 15th was my last day.

Actually, I have enjoyed being home and relaxing. I am concerned about the 'uncertainty' of our financial status but I truthfully find this a blessing in disguise. I hated my job and was very close to quitting. I am a believer in that things happen for a reason. Maybe you will find something better!

i got laid off when i worked for a book publisher too... it came out of no where... i was definately in shock as I was walking back to Penn Station in the middle of the afternoon. But it worked out for the best. Remember when one door closes another will open and everything happens for a reason!

Im so sorry!!

We just found out they're laying off 15 in my group and I've got 'history' with one of the team members who's a VP. I'm terrified!

I feel so bad for you.

I was also laid off from a publishing company--gotta love corporate mergers.

Unfortunately I work for a very small (3 person) editorial office and our parent company is in Chicago.

Thank you for all of the love and support and even job leads. I know that this is probably a blessing in disguise and better things will come. Right now I just need to find a job.
