I just have to say.. I love my Dad
First of all, let me just say... I've always had a problem with my weight. 5 years ago, I lost 30 pounds... only to gain it back, and then some. I struggle SO much losing weight... I've been on WW since January, and have lost a whopping 2 pounds. It's frustrating. Depressing. Aggravating. Upsetting. I was crying during my weigh in on Monday because I GAINED. I try so hard, but nothing seems to work. I am the heaviest I've ever been in my life - and my wedding is in 6 months.
Let me also say that my dad is NOT rich. BUT he will do whatever it takes to make his kids happy. He's amazing. Both my parents are. I am so fortunate to have them. My heart swells up when I think of how lucky I am to have them as parents. We're not the kind of kids that get BMW's or never worked... we weren't 'spoiled' - we were just always VERY fortunate and cared for. Even now, we have the safety net of our parents and I appreciate them more and more each day.
Well, after my weight battles - and the crying episode after my weight gain on Monday night, my mom told my dad how upset I was. My dad called me from work and said he wanted to help. He wanted me to find a personal training program - and he wanted to pay for it as part of my wedding present. He said he feels bad that all my hard work isn't paying off - and he wants me to look my best on my wedding day. I said no - and he insisted. He said I'm only going to get one chance to look my best on my wedding day, and since I had success with a trainer in the past, he wants to pay now. I asked him how he does this... how he always just pays for his kids for all different things, and he said because he never had money growing up, he never misses it when he doesn't. So when he does have money, he just wants to use it to make his children happy. I swear... my parents are the most selfless people I know... I don't know what I would do without them. He said you never see an armored car following a hearse. He said what makes him happy is being able to make his kids happy. He truly is a remarkable man.
I just came from a great place called FT Personal Training in Woodbury for my free trial... great people. GREAT place... and I can really see them being able to transform me into a beautiful bride. I'm probably going to join up with them... I feel like a celebrity with the personal workout they have geared for me... it's amazing. I didn't stop the whole time... my heart rate was between 150 and 170 for 45 minutes of strength training... with no breaks! The jumping jacks almost KILLED me! Thanks to my amazing dad, I really feel like I just could be a beautiful, fit bride on my wedding day! I LOVE MY DAD!!!
I just had to say that. What a great man.
