an AWESOME chocolate pistachio cake from scratch in my new kitchenaid mixer. OMG I love it!!!
most recipe's call for boxed yellow cake mix but i wanted to make it all from scratch so i used betty crocker's recipe for 'starlight yellow cake' and improvised with another recipe i had for Pistachio cake.
start out with
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 cup butter or stick margarine, softened 1 1/4 cups milk 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 large eggs
after mixing all ingredients...add 1 more egg, 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1 box of instant pistachio pudding mix...
mix again...on medium for 2 minutes. pour 3/4 of the batter into a well greased baking pan or bundt pan. mix 3/4 cup of chocolate syrup into remaining batter. pour batter on top of batter in pan and bake for 50-60 mins (check it at about 30 & 45 mins in...mine baked quicker)

I am getting this mixer and excited about it. Too bad I have NOOOOO room for it in our current apartment kitchen. Good for you making a nice cake. Can we all come over for a taste? Ha ha.

yeah! my cousin got it for me for the shower...we weren't going to use any gifts til after the wedding but FH really wanted to use his beer tender...and we needed a new can opener...and our ironing board had broken...so before u knew it the mixer and blender were out too...but we will be saving all our china and linens as well as some of the other stuff till after the wedding.

FH looooves it! so do i...even tonight i made country fried steak...i went to get fresh beer for the batter from the beer tender. FH keeps it in the basement. but...just so you know if you get it...it takes a loooong time to chill to the optimum pouring temperature...the light starts red, then yellowish orange and then finally green when its at optimal pouring temp. for us it took more than 1 day to turn green...but then again our basement gets less power so i dunno
