I hardly ever post here, but I know that you ladies will understand more than anyone else in the world. My MOH is so annoying. I have not asked her to do anything special. She picked her own dress, which I am not crazy about, but it was what she could afford. She picked her own shoes. She is deciding how her hair and make up will be done day of, but I am having her get it done, which I will probably end up paying for. For some reason, everything that I talk about or do related to MY wedding, the first words out of her mouth is 'well how much is that going to cost?' Why does it matter? And then she proceeds to make me feel like I am bankrupting 'my family' because of the choices that I am making. She gave me a hard time about spending the money ($10) for favor tags. She gave me a hard time about an upgrade at the RH. She thinks that having my hair and makeup done day of is a 'waste of money' It is so stressful and it makes me not want to talk to her about anything. There are so many touches that I am so excited about, that she has no idea about because I did not want to be scolded. And she will know they are all there on our wedding day. I can only imagine the morning of when she finds out about all of these things and she will start screaming at me, It is causing me so much anxiety. That's all. Thank you for listening.

Re: I just need to vent to someone
First of all, is she married? Does she not understand the whole wedding concept? I mean, of course weddings cost money. She shouldn't be inquiring about how much things cost, that's none of her business.
I've had it 50/50; 1/2 tells me I am doing a wonderful job so far with all my planning and hasn't had one complaint to date. The other half, well, it's always something. 'Why aren't you doing favors? If people give you an envelope, they deserve something back', said my Aunt, stating her argument about why should buy my favors for the reception. When I explained a donation is the new thing and it's less work, she then began to tell me it's 'morbid'. I told her our charity was toys for tots. She THEN (she was relentless) tells me I have to many expensive things on my registry and couldn't afford it and would rather do something for the wedding.
I won't take up to much space here, but the point is, let in one ear, and right out the other. I have tell myself this, literally, out loud, every time someone shares an opinion I don't want to hear.
And you can vent anytime. Hope that kinda helped.

I would love to find out what she does for her wedding some day. Ignore her, your wedding is going to be gorgeous without her two cents.

I went through the same thing with my step family!!! I stopped telling them about all of the things I was doing because they would say the same things. It is your wedding day and you should make it as special as you want!!! I keep telling FH to look at it like this is the biggest party we will EVER throw!!! It should be whatever YOU want it to be

Re: I just need to vent to someone
She was married 20 years ago, at the age of 19. And she has admitted that when they married, they had no money, blah blah blah. People who know both of us, tell me that it is jealousy. Sorry I took a different path in life and did not marry young and that now at 37 I am getting married for the first time. Meanwhile, I have the full support of my mother and FH with every decision that I make. I try to let it go in one ear and out the other, but it still weighs on me. And trust me, there are a lot of things that we have scaled back on and saved money on, etc. But there are a lot of inexpensive touches that are making the reception our own. But I actually bought something and roped the woman I work with into saying that she bought it for me, so that I will not be scolded for having it. How bad is that? Thanks for listening ladies.

EXACTLY what it is...Jealousy! At this point just tell her when she needs to be there, and what sh needs to do from here on out, and only surround yourself with the family who will support you un-conditionally!
