I refuse to watch it. We all know what happens in the end. My imagination maybe is not as bad as what happend to this poor man and his family. I just don't want to give the sick mofo's any more graticifaction than they already have.

'The American Guy' Has a name. It is Nicholas Berg. I'm sorry, but I feel like referring to him as just a guy is not fair. He is/was a person with a name and a family. I understand the curiosity, but I also think that the video should not be shown without the families consent. JMHO.

I agree. It's horrendous. I can't even IMAGINE what his family feels. It's unreal and unimaginable that this could happen to ANYONE in ANY COUNTRY. I don't know why we keep killing each other....it just goes on and on and on.....I honestly feel that the problems in the middle east will never be resolved.....JMO...and I am no polititian

Re: I just saw the beheading of the american guy
i once saw this website called rotton.com...they show the nastiest stuff. i saw it b/c some coworkers were looking at it... autopsy pics, people dead, dying, whatever...things that you are not supposed to see, you know? Anyway, afterwards, i just felt like i had lost something...something good about my soul or humanity, or whatever...i had lost something good that i represented. so, anyway, before anyone watches, things like that really don't do your psyche any good.

I agree completely. His father said that they knew about the beheading before it was made public, but didn't want anyone else to know. To have anyone who has internet access be able to watch it, its just disrespectful and continues the trauma of this poor family.

Re: I just saw the beheading of the american guy
I can't even begin to imagine what his family is feeling right now. To lose someone period is horrible, to lose someone to a tragic happening like beheading is even worst but then for it to be public and for people to be able to view it must be...I don't even have a word for it.
I saw it on the news...up to where they knocked him down but then I turned it off. I don't think they showed anymore but even to see that much....is insane.
Someone here at work is like forwarding everyone he knows the site and I find it to be very rude. I don't know why. Not that anyone who watched it is wrong....I am not saying that but he is forwarding it like it is some joke or poem or something.
My sister is in the army and I just feel like it could hit home at any time and I wouldn't even want to begin to imagine how much hate I would have for the websites posting it and people distributing it. I don't know. JMO

Re: I just saw the beheading of the american guy
MY FH started to watch it but he turned it off. Its still on our computer - I want him to just throw the file away. I know if I watch something like that I will never be able to get rid of the images in my head. Its horrible, sick, and disgusting that people would actually want to watch something like that. If this happened to your family, would you want the rest of the country watching it? Those poor people - I wonder what they will do with themselves at this point.

I don't understand how something so horrible could be on the internet but then again nothing that I see and hear about the Internet surprises me anymore.
some hugs for you and your family and sister who is in the army. May God protect her always.

Re: I just saw the beheading of the american guy
Well, I haven't seen it but I can understand why people want to. I can't stop thinking about it and all the news stations have described it, so my imagination just keeps trying to picture it. I guess I feel like if I could just see it, maybe I would understand something. I don't know...the idea of such barbarity is too huge. It just doesn't seem real that people could do something like that. I think the 'morbid curiosity' comes from people's minds just trying to process it. We're lucky here, we don't see such violence EVER. I guess I feel like maybe if we weren't so protected from it, we might understand what the rest of the world is living with.
Not watching it doesn't make it go away.

I understand wanting to try and understand something that seems so unreal. The problem that I have is that I keep thinking about Nick Berg's family. They should have the right to decide if their son's brutal execution should be available for the world to watch.
No, watching it does not make it go away, but I don't think that it helps people to understand . I think that it lowers us to a level that I personally do not want to hit. If it is okay to watch this why not start televising the executions that go on across this country.

Re: I just saw the beheading of the american guy
Hmmm...I think if they did start televising the executions that went on in America, maybe the public would be so outraged that we would put an end to capital punishment. Which would be a good thing, IMO.
I don't disagree with you, his family is all I can think of as well and my prayers are with them. I just think it's a very American attitude to think that his family--or anyone--should have the right to control what other people see. These terrorists are not operating under the same guidelines for proper and improper that we operate under.

Re: I just saw the beheading of the american guy
I am curious as well, but I do not want to see this guy get murdered. Maybe I would watch the very beginning in order to get an idea, but thats it.
My heart goes out to his family, I could not imagine what they are going through.
I dont believe that they did this in response to the 'torture' of the Iraqi prisoners, they would have done this anyway. They have always been looking to kill Americans, and are just using this as an excuse. What was thier excuse for hanging the American soldiers? I hope they catch the people that did this and they suffer the same fate as him. They should do them one by one right in front of each other.

I think that his family absolutely has the right to censor who is able to and how much they are able to see. I have been in the situation of being the family that finds out about a loved ones death after their community. Granted different circumstances, but still painful. How would you feel if this was your family member. Maybe you would want people to witness the evil that is out there in the world, but it should be your choice. Not someone from the internet. I think that what they have been showing on the news is sufficient for me.
Sorry, this is a very sensitive topic and I appreciate your point, but I think we just have to agree to disagree.
