I just threw together a newsletter..

would this be ok, i would put it on nice note cards and put them in with the STD's... I woudl also put the numbers to the hotels on there.

Hello Everyone!!!

As you may have heard we’re tying the knot!!! We are excited and hope that you will all have the opportunity to share in our special day. We are getting married at the Estate at East Wind Caterers. There are rooms available, but space is limited. We have reserved a block of rooms, at a special rate of $xxx per night. The block is reserved under the Zwerling-Kulp Party. There are only 50 rooms, so please reserve your room as early as possible, we suggest 4-5 months prior. We have also reserved rooms for $xxx per night at the Hampton Inn in Brookhaven. The Hampton inn is located 30 minutes west of East Winds, and a complimentary shuttle is available to and from the wedding. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jonathan or Crystal. Sound good to me...maybe include the phone numbers for the hotels? Or are you including hotel direction cards with the addresses and stuff?

I think it is too early to send them out. Most people don't have calendars for 2005 yet.

i think it's a great idea!
i did this and sent it out with the STD also...and I included the information cards that we got from the hotels which has all of their information and directions as well.
you might want to try that as an idea

I agree with am470, that it is too early to inform people about places to stay. I would send out your save the dates but i wouldn't send the newsletter until early summer (june/july)...which is still 9 mos until your wedding.

edited because i forgot to say that i liked the newsletter...just add the #'s

I think it's too early too, BUT, I was told to send them out early because there is only 50 rooms and there are 4 weddings at one time.. so I'm afraid if people don't book their rooms, they won't get one??????

ETA: I wanted to send out the hotel info with the invitations.. but was told that 4 months isn't enough time, and that the hotel may be booked by then.. I'M CONFUSED

It is good but I think you just need to say this once:

There are rooms available, but space is limited

There are only 50 rooms, so please reserve your room as early as possible

No I haven't done it yet, I am going to do it in march or early april.. If they'll allow it.. I was throwing some ideas together

I think in the beginning when you mention the rooms at East Wind you need to mention that these room are available at the INN at East Wind located right next door to the Estate.

are there other hotels around East Wind that can accomodate your guests if the Inn is full?

Woah 15 months??? No it's actually only 11 months.. Under a year, and it's giving them a heads up. JMO.. they can do what they want, but at least i know I did my job in informing them that the inn books up. I thought send the STD's out 11 months in advance and then the invites 4 months in advance..

I don't think 11 months is too early to send them at all. We will be sending our's a year in advance. With the way weddings book up these days, it never hurts to do it early. JMO.

i dont' think it's tto early...i think it's great to let people know far enough in advance that this will be coming up.....i always like to know about big events like this in advance.....
for instance....tom and i are going to be honeymooning in july even though we're getting married in april. we haven't planned the honeymoon yet, and i just found out that a friend is getting married in july....so now i know that i shouldn't plan my honeymoon for that weekend.

and if you're not sending them out until april, i think you're timing it perfectly!

Ok thanks.. I'm thinking the earlies march, but maybe early April. I'm just so nervous about the Inn at East winds.. I know people are going to flip out when they go to book a room, and there all full.. FH FAMILY so I'm letting them know.. lol.. Well, thanks.. again

and i know personally, i sent out STDs about 8 months in advance and my family was just itching to get them so they could make hotel reservations.....
so if the number of available rooms will be limited, give them plenty of time!
