PLEASE!!!!! Before saying yes to being a BM, consider all the possible expenses, and do not be embarrassed to say, you cannot afford to be in a wedding!! Debi had five BM drop out, who initially told her a year before that they could be in her wedding. Now it's true things happen, suddenly, to make it financially impossible to follow through with being in a wedding, but, please, the Bride would rather you tell her one way or the other, ASAP. Don't make her guess!!!! This is not meant to be mean, but hopefully, girls will really think things through, before disappointing the Bride. As this has also happened with Fred and a GM, I plan to post on the GM board as well. Thanks for listening!! Mary MOB

FIVE BM's dropped out?? That's terrible. I think it's true when they say 'you learn who your real friends are when you're getting married'

Re: I just want to say, to all 'perspective' BM
I hate to play devil's advocate, but some girls DO have changes in financial status, especially since most of us are planning far in advance. Also, it is always a good idea to give prospective BM's an idea of what is expected, financially and otherwise. My BM's include my sister, friends still in school and my FSIL, who just had a baby - so my parents (who are paying most of the costs) and I anticipated that when asking them. It was more impt to me to have people who really care about me and would support me rather than friends with the most money.

Hi, Alicia!!!! Yes, I agree with you, that sudden financial setbacks can happen. I wanted to point out, that my FSIL and Daughter, would have preferred to hear a BM or GM tell them right away, that they can't be in the wedding, rather than say nothing definitive at all, making it impossible for Fred and Debi to reach them, making them guess, or as a GM just did, tell Fred a week before the wedding, when he has known a long time. I understand his Wife even got on his case, for not telling Fred sooner. Thanks for posting, Alicia!!!! Mary MOB
