not only did FMIL tell me that they would've just given us the $$ to use as a downpayment on a house had we eloped, but now people are dropping like flies from our wedding...my MOH is coming solo, my mom's cousin is getting divorced which changed her to a 1...and now she is NOT coming at all...this 2 days after she tells me she just bought a dress for the wedding and is anticipating it. ugh. and we are still short like 100 (people) responses....the deadline is the 10th. other guests are minus ones that were 2 and it's just becoming such a headache.
i know the day will go fine without these people...but it's so hurtful......and my own grandmother said in an email to my MOH/aunt (i had her 'bug' all the people who haven't bothered to RSVP yet in our family....cause they are all OOT and need a hotel room...if they havne't RSVPd, it's likely they haven't booked the room and the block ends on Wednesday!!!) 'she said we could RSVP online...i guess i can dig the card out and send it in'
i NEVER said RSVP online....EVER. nor did she!

Re: i knew we should've eloped...
I feel your pain...My parents told us up front that we could either have a wedding or take the money and run...Why, oh why did we decide to have the wedding?!?!?! At the time it seemed like a good idea...
At this point, we're not even going to come close to our minimum, only 25 people from FH's family's list are coming, 38 people still haven't RSVPd and the response date was Thursday...grrrr... I wish we'd just gone to city hall....
