I know Curves has been done to death but I have some questions....

My GF just joined yesterday, has had 2 workouts and absolutely loved it. I am seriously considering joining her as my wedding is in 4 months and I need to drop some inches.

Those of you that have enjoyed the process, please share. If i understand correctly, you do the same 30 min workout (a voice on a tape says 'Switch' right?) however many times a week you go. So in essence, one is doing strength training for 30 mins, 3 times a week?

Ive been going to Curves for a week and I love it!!! Im on the phone with my mother trying to get her to join. I know you are only supposed to go 3 times a week but Ive gone M-W this week. I cant get enough. Today I put on a pair of jeans that I havent had on since OCT. 2001!!!! (I was prego for 10 months in that time). Its the same circuit. You join in at whatever space is free and go around 3 times then you stretch. You use a 'machine' for 30 seconds then a voice on a tape tells you to switch then you run/jump/jog in place for 30 seconds then go back on a machine. I cant wait to go again!!! Any more ?'s just ask. (Its strength and cardio)

I just joined and I really like it.

There was a girl there yesterday that had her monthly measurements done and she lost 9 inches in a month.

She said she goes four times a week

Currenlty I go 3 times I week. It has not been a month for me yet so I have not measured in yet.

I will keep you girls updated on my progress.

I have been going to Curves since this February and I have lost 5 lbs and 14 inches since then! I love going. If I had been good on my diet I probably would have lost much more than that...

are the memberships transferrable among locations?? i want to go while i'm motivated to the lindenhurst one, but they're building a west islip one that would be more convenient for me. can i start at one and then switch to another???

Karen you can either get a travel pass which if you have a 12 month membership you can go to any Curves you want as long as you go to your 'home' Curves more. OR you can transfer the membership to the one closer to you.

The one in Riverhead I go to is open from 9-12 and 4:30-7 M-F and 9-11 on Sat. Their hours are terrible but will increase as membership does. ALSO they dont have 2 machines (obliques or a but one) so I travel to another one on Saturdays.

the lindenhurst one is slightly better:

M-F 8:30-12; 3:30-8
Sat 8-12
Closed Sundays

if this one was only open until 7, i would never make it!!!!!! i'm hoping as membership grows, they will open a little earlier - less excuses in the morning!!!

thanks for the info!!!

Future Mrs TC - when you say you have lost 14 inches, do you mean like the total of off your arms, legs, waist etc? Like 1 inch off the arms, 2 inches off the waist, 2 inches off the hips and then a few more off the thighs? Is that how it works?

Thrilled yes that is how they count the inches. She would have to come back and break down where exactly she lost inches.
