I know I am being critical but.....

I know I am being critical but.....

My FH's next door neighbor is getting married in May.

She sends the invite to Fh's parents.

Here is how it is worded-

Mr and Mrs XXXXX and family.

The inner envelope is empty.

Mind you Fh has 3 other brothers- all adult age.

I was told verbally that I was invited as well, but honestly I think she should have sent separate invitations. Or if she was saving on postage utilized the inner envelope to indicate who is invited. For instance are his brothers invited with guest?

So annoying!!!!

The response card has not been sent back yet, because no one knows how many people to put.

I agree with you. They sould have sent you a seperate one and list all names of the others on the inner envelope. Your Fi's parents will probably have to ask who is invited before they respond.

You aren't being critical. That is not the right way for them to have invited everyone....now it's an uncomfortable phone call someone in your family is going to have to make to ask who is allowed to come...that's just odd!

I think it is strange too - but I should tell you that whenever my family gets invited to weddings the invite is sent to my parents for them, and it is supposed to include me and my guest (FH)
Well I NEVER get a separate invite (I'm 27 and I haven't lived at home for more than 3 months since I was 18) and my name is never on there just family and guest sometimes

I wonder if people even care - or they simple do what is easiest for them

You're not be critical, you're just rightfully confused. IMO anyone over the age of 18 should get their own invite and on the inner envelope people should specify 'and Guest'. If she verbally said something to you, I would call her, say you saw the invite with family and just wanted to know if you should we place the whole amount of people coming on this one response card with all the names included. The invitee should see what they did wrong, she's going to need the names for the table seatings.

This bride is going to have a very hard time with her guest list. Everyone is not going to be as considerate as your family is being. She will have people responding with however many people they want to bring along.

Re: I know I am being critical but.....

yikes...I would give them a call and ask...

a coworker of mine sent my invite with the wrong zip code (after a year we figured this out), when I never got it, she brought in to work another one...but it just had my name on it (I wasn't married at the time)...I was stressing...was FH (at time) invited? finally the day the response was due, I called her and asked...she laughed and said OF COURSE...she figured it was a given...

and it was no big deal...but you'll feel better if you clear it up

Wacky, this is how I feel, but this girl and her family have been next door neighbors of my Fh and his family for like 20 years. I think this was a case of her assuming that we would know what to do. I think she is very socially unaware.
