I know it sounds strange, but gospel choir?

I want a gospel choir to perfrom at my reception. Only for one or two songs, like when people have bagpipers come in. I think this would be a lot of fun for my guests; however, i have no idea on how to go about getting one. My church has a choir, but nothing like what I am looking for. Does anyone know where I could contact one to hire?

I love the sound and the idea. This is in all honesty just my opinion---gospel choirs are beautiful and they seem so personal, cultural in a sense...I think it would be hard to 'hire' a real one....don't you? I love them, but I also respect them and feel that they shouldn't be hired for a day by someone who doesn't take part in the gospel church regularly. That's trully just my opinion though...so ignore it if you have your heart set on it.

I don't think this sounds strange AT ALL!!! Its (sadly) a little used concept. If you belong to a church already this may not be hard to do at all. I say go for it & good luck I hope it works out for you!

Marble Collegiate Church in NYC at 29th and Fifth Ave. has a Gospel Choir that is comprised of church members. You may want to contact them about your plans. Marble Church

Mark Miller is the Gospel Choir director. You can find a link to e-mail him under the 'About Marble / Staff' links on the left side of the home page.

What about looking in to the Bklyn Tabernacle Choir, they are a grammy award winning choir and they might be able to send out a smaller group at a cost I am sure to you. A bride on here sings in that choir. Her name is Irenie19, pardon me if its spelt wrong. But you can post a question to her on the NW board. Good luck, that would be so awesome.
