I know it varies, but how much can I expect...

...to pay for a nice new bedroom set? Complete with everything, nightstands, wardrobe, etc? Something contemporary with a king size bed?

Where did you purchase your bedroom set?

I would say from about $4000 and up. I'm still looking though but I've looked at Stanley and Lexington so far.

You can get some decent deals on bedroom furniture at Seamans in the 2000-3000 range.

But if you want to include an actual King Mattress... expect to pay $1000 and up for just the mattress and box spring if you want something decent.

I think we payed about $2500 for our king size bedroom set from Bob's. We also went and bought a new mattress for like another $2000- they're not cheap!

There is a store in Massepequa called North Carolina Direct. We were going to order a bedroom set with bed, 2 nightstands, dresser with mirror, armoire, and chest for $1600. If you don't mind looking in catalogs and ordering from it - the price is low b/c it comes from the manufacturer directly. They often have bedroom sets that levitz, seamens, etc carry. Definately check them out.

Re: I know it varies, but how much can I expect...

On the other end of the spectrum, our bedroom set, including queen size headboard, armoire, two night stands, dresser, and mirror cost $8000! It's a Bernhardt set and we ordered it from M. Katz and Sons on the lower east side. We never went to their showroom. I just called them for an estimate, and they were SO much less than the other places where we had seen our set. We had it quoted for $12,000 (Kleyban's on Staten Island) and $14,000 (Seigerman's on Rt. 110) before that!
