I know this has been asked time and time again...

But can someone please help me figure out how much I should tip each of the following:

DJ (incl. a dj, mc, and percussions)
Photog (incl. 2 photogs, 1 lighting person)
Videographer
Limo

And do I need to tip the priest, organist and cantor (I don't even know if we have a cantor!).

THANKS!

This is how I have gone through it in my head.

DJ (incl. a dj, mc, and percussions): I will tip $100
Photog (incl. 2 photogs, 1 lighting person): I will tip $100
Videographer: I am not having one, but I would tip them $100 as well.
Limo: Tipping them $50 each driver. The tip is included in the price, but I figured it would be nice to give them something extra, maybe I will only do that if they really do a great job. I have heard a ton of bad things about the place I picked :( so we shall see.
Matr'd: I will tip $100 if I can.

I am going to tip my officiant $50 as well. These people ARE getting paid to do a service. It's not like they aren't making a profit off of it, or else they wouldn't be doing it. Just keep that in mind, and remember if they really go out of their way to make your day that much better, give them a little extra.

I'm tipping:

band/dj $50 per member
photog $50 per person
video (not having but i'd do $50 pp)
Limo was included in my price

No you dont have to tip the priest/organist/singer. The fee for them is included in the $$ you pay to the church.

I tipped everyone $50 p/p

ETA: We also gave the maitre'd $400 for 160 guests - so that was $2.50 per guest.

At my church we HAVE to tip the members there, $200. for the organist she also does the whole rehersal dinner thing. Canter $50. WE have another guy who handles our candles and such he is $30 and my priest we are giveing $100.

What do we give the person who handles everything at the RH (dont know what he is called)

Wish I saw a similar thread before. I was clueless on how much to tip. Think we over did it.

DJ, MC $200

Limo $100 per driver

Photographer $100

The RH charged up $500 for maitre'd . DH gave additional $50 (I was upset that they tell you how much to pay-when tipping should be based on service you received. But I did receive excellent service!)

Florist $200

I dunno, I've sung at tons of weddings and I've never gotten a tip over and above the $100 that the church tells people they have to pay me.

Ok I was concerned about stiffing my priest, so I just called St Marys (maybe not all churches are the same) and they told me that the priest's fee is taken directly out of the $700 that I pay to have my wedding there, and that I need not tip him additional b/c he gets $200 of that.

We are supposed to pay the church 500 for the membership to get married there, which they said you have a year to pay, we haven't paid it yet. I told FH to bring the checkbook that day incase they ask him for it and than we pay the organist 200, cantor 50, and another 30 to the other guy so to pay 100 to the priest i have nothing left!!!

We're getting married at my parish. I didnt realize some parishes had a membership fee? Ours just charges for the wedding. $700.

Kim, thats silly. I'm not going to charge myself to appear at my own wedding. That's just for other people.

Re: I know this has been asked time and time again...

i think this is what we are doing... we are pretty broke at this point.. but we are trying...

DJ... $50 MC...$75
Each Photographer $50 or $75... video.. $75
Limo Driver... Probably $50 each even though tips are included...
Hair and Make up - $25 each (plus the girls in the BP will probably tip)
Priest... $50 ( we are already paying $450 plus $250 to hold the date)
organist-$35 - $50
Matr'D ... $300-$400 depending on our final count
Bridal Attendant - $50
DOCs - $75 for main.. $50 for assistant
Flower Delivery.....$15-$25 each

i think that covers everyone... not sure though.. still working out the kinks and how much we can put aside for tips!!!

At Fh greek church the organist is $100- but what is the canter & candle person? I asked FH & he didnt know. The Priest is coming to our reception so not tipping him.

Also, our church fee is $400 or alittle less. FH paid already but Priest asked for it again last week when we were there. TG he brought receipt with him.
They wouldn't marry us otherwise.
