I KNOW THIS IS WEIRD BUT PLEASE HELP A FRIEND..

this may be weird on a wedding web site but lets face it..life is life of course and I need advice for a friend. He left his wife (fell out of love with her and lots of other reasons) and has been out of the house for over a year now. Thing is they have a 4 year old daughter. He pays for everything but she wont let him see her unless its at her house so she can make a move on him. Anyway...thing is is that he doesnt have much money and no grounds according to what i have read. Does anyone know where he can go? Where he should go? To a laywer? Straight to the courts? What his options are? He wants a divorce but she wont file, and he loves his daughter and wants to be a part of her life..but she wont let him. Any advice as to what he should do next? He wants to take off Friday to do something but has no clue where to start. Any suggestions or thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

aw man, that is rough. I tell you I hate it when parents cannot get along just enough for their children. It sounds like his wife is being manipulative, getting back at him for leaving her, and using the daughter against him, and the only one who will be most hurt in the end is the innocent little girl.
I'd suggest he go straight to a divorce lawyer. There is no reason he shouldn't be able to see his daughter during their separation. He has to go and at least have visitation rights where he can take her out of the house. I believe his wife would have to prove that he is a danger in order to prevent outside visitation.
Good luck to him.

He needs a lawyer. He can still get divorced even if she never does anything - it's divorce by default. And family court can help him get visitation. He should go right away.

I hate these stories too. It's always the kids that suffer. If your friend has been separated from his wife for more than 1 year, he can file. He should consult a lawyer immediately. There is no reason why he should be prevented from seeing his daughter on his own terms ... without having to deal with his wife. He should get started on this right away, b/c with her resistance, it will definitely take time. Meanwhile, he has rights that need to be protected. He should also be keeping track of every time he gives her money & how much.

I wish him luck. He sounds decent & caring. Hopefully, he will be able to move on & find someone who will make him happy.

I agree with him needing to see a lawyer and doing it quickly. He has all the right intentions and wants to be a part of his daughters life, he needs to be one step ahead of his ex. I think he would need to get the ball rolling on the divorce and going for some sort of visitation rights. Good Luck to him and keep us posted.

that's tough... I'm sorry he's going through that. He needs to get himself a lawyer!
