I know we're all confused about weeks vs. months, etc...
But I have a question...I'm 18 weeks and in my WTEWYE book it says month 5 is 18-22. I'm 5 months already????

If there are 4 weeks in a month, 16 weeks would be 4 months so I would say you are 4 1/2 months...

Well, I thought so too until I figured that week 4 ends month 1 week 8 ends month 2 week 12 ends month 3 and week 16 ends month 4. It's crazy!

Yah... according to WTEWYE you are. I never go by that though because it puts you a month ahead so when you are in your 37th week you are actually like 9 1/2 months pregnant. Who wants to tell people they're 9.5 months preggers?
I count backwards from my due date. I count my due date as being exactly 9 months (@ 40 wks) and then count backwards. Because you really aren't pg the entire first month that they count your weeks.
Anyway, I'm 30wks. So WTEWYE says I'm 7 months. But I got married in Oct, got PG on the HM, and my 6 month anniversary JUST passed, not my 7th. So I say I'm 6 months pg. Technically, 6 1/2 months pg.

I know I'm being redundent with all the questions - but isn't 40 weeks 10 months? Oh, I give up!

YES IT IS!!! You are correct - really women are pregnant for 10 'lunar' months. But most months are a little over 4 weeks so that's why the discrepancy. Also add in the fact that you are not actually pregnant for the first 2 weeks of those 40 weeks (actual gestation is only 38 weeks) and there you have the reason for all the confusion.

Good grief! For as confusing as the 'week' thing is - I'm sticking to that when people ask! I'm 18 weeks, thank you very much!
