My fiance and I both live and work in NJ, so we're having a hard time meeting with LI vendors, like DJs. We are on a pretty tight budget and are looking for a package that includes 5 hours of music (we don't need cocktail hour or ceremony), and a simple light show. We are trying to spend between $1500 and $2000 (although clearly we'd LOVE) to pay less.
Are we being unreasonable in our budget? I've called a bunch of companies, but they all want to discuss pricing in person. I understand that they want to sort of sell themselves, but it is hard for us to take the two hour drive just to find out we can't afford anything they're offering!
So my question is: does anyone know of (or are you getting) a similar package? If so, with whom?!
TIA, I'm just feeling really frustrated.

FM Entertainment - I think we're paying around $1095 for a DJ and MC. Lots of girls on here are using them or have used them. We're not having alight show but check out their website www.fmdjs.com - they're a vendor on LIW.

I am using Imagine Entertainment from Ariana Studios on Jericho Tpk in Floral Park. I am paying 1795 for DJ/MC and deluxe light show (I also have music for cocktail & ceremony). if your into djs then that is fine - but my husband wanted a band and we had a band called shannon breeze - i can get you the info - we paid 3000 and it was totally awesome - -and i took the money from a different place - -basically i went from booking flowers with one company to another ( fm me if you want that info also)- -and we then could have a band - -just a thought and people are still talking about what great music we had. jsut a thoguht!! they played all the top 40 and really worked with us jims mom wanted som 60 and 70's and they rocked the house all night long and it was amazing.
