So, yeah, I lost my ring. I had it on my dresser, or so I thought and it's gone. FH thinks my grandfather's cleaning lady took it. (I live with my grandfather.) But, I just don't think she would do something like that. Has this happened to anyone else? I have it insured, but there's a $500 deductible. FH's aunt said you can have the jeweler say the new ring was $500 more than you actually paid and then recover all of the allotted insurance money. More importantly though, I really want to find MY ring. So yeah, if this has ever happened to you, what was the result? How long did you look? How long did you just wait for it to turn up before giving up?
Saddened....

Re: I lost my engagement ring
I'm so sorry-
This happened to my mother several years ago. Her ring insurance had $0 deductible though. A contractor took it from the house (it was on Mom's dresser while she was in the shower - he was installing the doors/locks, so obviously, it wasn't locked!), and he had it in his possession for 2 weeks while he worked on my house. He witness my mother frantically searching, calling insurance companies, even contacting a jeweler to have an exact replica created. He was there to see her heartbreak when she was told that her wedding band couldn't be created EXACTLY the same way. Mom went ahead and had a close copy made of her band, and replaced her e-ring, but she was so upset everyday.
The contractor must've felt guilty, because HE GAVE IT BACK!
I've heard of people inflating the cost $500 though - while illegal, it's a pretty common practice.
I hope you find your ring or you're able to replace it soon!

Re: I lost my engagement ring
My mom lost hers as well and frantically searched for it for months. Then she had it replaced and found the old one!!!
Good luck whatever you decide to do. Are you sure you haven't misplaced it? Looked under and in dresser, etc.?
You must be heartbroken. Good luck...I hope you find it!

That happened to my FH's grandmother also found it right after she bought a new one w/ the insurance money she got for it. Are you sure that you placed it in the draw & if so then maybe FH is right there is no other place it could have gone if you know it was in teh draw

I'm always so worried about this. I've left my e-ring at home and have driven home just to get it.
I'm so sorry to hear this - I hope it turns up soon!

I am sooo sorry to hear about your ring!!!! I am so scared that this is going to happen to me. I'm so forgetful. I still haven't gotten my ring insured, which I know is a big no no. How do I go about getting my ring insured. Who do you contact? I really hope that you find your ring!!!!!

I am so sorry. I can only imagine how your are feeling right now. IMO, keep looking. Murphy's Law, you will find it after replacing it. I would also ask the cleaning girl nicely, not accusing but maybe she would remember if she saw it. Maybe she put it away somewhere so it wouldn't get lost and forgot to tell you or your grandfather. You never know, it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.

I hope you find it, I've had a few moments where I left it behind somewhere and luckily someone always gave it back to me!! (MAybe because I'm not used to wearing it yet, it's only been a month!!)
Have you tried turning a glass upside down yet? I heard that works. My mother swears by asking God for help, that evil forces hide things from you, but hey, that's just my mom being religious.....

Re: I lost my engagement ring
Thank you everyone for your support. I found it I found it I found it. Well, actually, FH found it where he had already looked. But, he took apart this couch-chair that I always put my stuff on and it was there! Everyone was telling me to pray to St. Anthony. I'm Jewish, but FH's family is Catholic and they were all saying pray anyway and the girls on here were saying it. FMIL prayed while FH searched that chair. I think when FH converts, we may have to keep just St. Anthony around! Something worked. Thank you so much again girls for all of your support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's funny--keeping St. Anthony around!!
So glad you found it.
My suggestion would have been to check the vacuum cleaner.

Re: I lost my engagement ring
You can insure it under your parents homeowners or your own if you own a house or there are independent insurers you can go with--if you do a search I know there has been talk about this before. Mine is insured under my parents homeowners & it is usually about $10-$13 per $1000 that ring is appraised at. TO get it insured you need an appraisal from jewler, bring it to your insurance agent & really that is all that is needed. It is really easy & shouldn't wait any longer to have it insured.

Re: I lost my engagement ring
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Im glad you found your ring. I once thought I lost a ring and for two years wondered what happened. One day it occured to me to look under my grandmother's tv. Her home attentant, I guess didn't dust under the t.v. Anyways, it was there. I ended up losing it again in a bathroom. That is why I need to get my ring insured a.s.a.p. Question: If you don't want to get the ring insured under your parents homeowners insurance, what can you do instead. What companies are recommended?
