I lost some weight

I lost some weight

Since our honeymoon I have been trying to get back on the body for life program. Well about 2 weeks ago I set out to really get back on it and meet my year end goal of losing 40 pounds. I lost 25 pounds at the beginning of the year before my wedding. I gained about 5 pounds back on my honeymoon cruise. So that leaves me with having to lose 20 more pounds.

Well I'm happy to say that I've lost 2.5 pounds so far and I feel great. It's going to be hard during the holiday season, but I'm going to do my best to get as close to my goal as I can.

Just wanted to share my happy news. Ok I'm done now.

Re: I lost some weight

I lost the first 25 through the body for life program. I started it at the end of January and finished is a couple of weeks before my wedding.

the Body For Life program is something that Bill Phillips came up with. He was a body builder years ago and decided that he should share his knowledge with others. The book is about $25 and I feel it is well worth the money. Basically the way it works is:

- You have to eat 5-6 meals a day
- Every meal must include a portion of protein and a portion of carbs.
- At least 2 of the meals must contain a portion of veggies.
- A portion consists of the size of the palm of your hand
- One day out of the week you have what's called a free day in which you can eat whatever you want and however much you want of it all day
-Drinking lots of water

The other part of the program is intense working out.

- You work out 6 days a week.
- Three days are 20 minute cardio
- Three days are weight training(switching between an upper body workout and a lower body workout)

He also suggests doing shakes as meal supplements. I don't have a shake everyday, but I try to get a couple in each week. There is nothing bad in the shake (nothing to speed up your heart rate), it's simply a meal supplement.

What I really like about the program is the free day. It really keeps you from cheating during your other meals and if you do slip a little, your body doesn't go into shock from the bad food because you haven't been depriving your body of it while on the diet (does that make sense?)

Also the program is a 12 week program. But by the end of the 12 weeks you're so use to the routine that you really don't go back to your old eating habits.

This is just a general idea of what the program is all about. The book lists authorized foods you can have and tells who what's considered protein and carbs. The website is www.bodyforlife.com. I highly recommend it to anyone who is willing to workout 6 times a week. Let me know if you want any more information.
