I love it. UGH!!!! I look like a devil woman! (little long)
I just found out from the daughter of my FMIL's coworker (through MYSPACE!!) that my FMIL has been telling EVERYONE all about my wedding....then telling them 'I would've loved to invite you, but she's not letting me. I'm not allowed to have anyone I want there - I'm just sooo limited!'
OK, FYI, her list is already 50 people. My parents' list is 40 people, and OUR list is 30 people. My minimum is 100, and we're paying.
She feels she has to invite former coworkers because she went to their kids' weddings and gave a gift, and 'things have to balance out'...hellllllo! I'm paying for the plate - you gave the original gift - how is that going to balance?!?!?
My one rule for the wedding list is that I must have met everyone on there ONCE in the past 7 years that we've been together. Is that too much to ask?! They have family reunions every year, so I definitely know the entire extended family.
FFIL wants to invite people that he used to work with before he retired 4 yrs ago...he only sees them at retirement dinners, and feels our wedding is a good time to 'catch up'. What?!?
I'm sorry, but I want a very intimate, extremely personal wedding. I want to be surrounded by those that love us, not just those that *had* to come because my FILs gave their kid a gift a few years ago. My parents are not even inviting their bosses.
She's making me out to be the bad guy, but I don't think what I'm doing is so wrong! FMIL and I both work in the same town - also the town we live in. She has a lot of local connections, and her words are getting back to me. FH and I confronted her and asked her to please stop talking about our wedding - that was 3 months ago - and NOW i find out she's doing it again!
I'm so embarrassed
I can't WAIT until this wedding is over and I can get on with my marriage.
